What is the Worship Central Academy?

The UK Academy is a programme for those wishing to pursue a call to worship leadership in the local church, lasting the duration of an academic year. This runs in partnership with a number of churches in different locations, each of which will be where students are based on a weekly basis - serving and leading as part of the team there. Then throughout the year, there  will be a number of occasions for students to come together for input from the Worship Central team.

Who is it for?

Do you have a heart for God, worship, and the local church? Do you have experience in leading worship? The Academy is designed for emerging worship leaders actively involved in leading in their church, with a heart and calling to serve as a worship pastor. If that sounds like you then we would love you to consider applying!

What does it involve?

Each term, Worship Central will host an Academy Training Day and an Academy Retreat where all students involved in the programme across the UK will come together. These times are designed to invest in you and teach into various topics and issues relevant to your development as future worship pastors. The third term will include a place at Worship Central's flagship training event, The Week, a five day intensive training conference for worship leaders and pastors. This will take the place of a third retreat.

There will also mentoring by the Worship Central team outside of these meetings, the exact format of these will be confirmed once we know how many students are participating in the Academy this year.

Then on a weekly basis, you will be actively involved in the church to which you have applied - being invested in, serving and leading worship. The structure of this will look slightly different depending on which church you have applied to.

You will be expected to read two books a term and write a 1500 word essay per term on one of these books, as well as a ten minute presentation on one book each term.

When is it?

The Academy will run from September 2019 to June 2020, though the exact dates will differ with the different church locations.

What is the Cost?

The Academy costs are met by each of the church's internship programmes, the exact detail of which may be slightly different from church to church.
