can i just ask..why does ben always hold his left drumstick the wrong way round or has anyone not noticed?
i'm just curious as i'm a drummer my self and i've never seen it before lol
God Bless
Chris
Hi Chris,
I hold my left stick like that because i like the feel of the weight at the end of the stick when i play the snare drum on a heavy back-beat. I think playing with the 'but' end of the stick also gives a slightly thicker and heavier sound but i admit the difference in sound is negligible. When playing with a lighter touch i will almost always play with the tip of the stick. I know quite a few drummers who play with their left stick 'the wrong way round' but also quite a lot who don't, its just personal preference! I think it partly comes from drummers who play traditional and match grip as if you quickly swap between the two grips with your left hand the stick ends up being the opposite way round if that makes sense!
I hope that answers your query!
All the best,
Ben
ok mate..cheers :) i might try it one day...see how it feels... it might make a change in the sound a bit, we'll see lol
these drum tutorials are really helpful and i hope there will be more in the near future :)

sooooooooooo helpful! only just found these! ive been living in darkness!!
ive said so many times it would be easier if i could just watch the drummer! and now i can!
but although the filming is quite funky and arty id rather not have so much zooming in so that i can see what he's doing with all the drums. :D thanx worship central!
Hi
I was wondering if one of the worship central drummers could tell me which cymbals they use, I'm looking at getting some new ones for church and I want to get some which are tried and tested in the kind of environment they'll be used in.
Also, would it be possible to have a few tutorials for some songs that have been released more recently, e.g. God is Coming or New Day?
Thanks and God Bless
