2,000 At Shepherds Bush Empire
It was an incredible launch to the UK Tour, full report and photos here. Worship Central launched it's first ever UK TOUR with a night of worship at legendary London venue, Shepherds Bush Empire, with all 2,000 tickets selling out in advance.
The night was hosted by Al Gordon with Tim Hughes recording a Live Worship DVD+CD, which featured guest appearances from Martin Smith of ‘Delirious?’ and members of rap collective ‘29th Chapter’. After an extended time of worship, popular speaker and author Mike Pilavachi spoke movingly on worship and justice. The Worship Central Tour continues in October with eight further dates in cities across the UK: October 15th Oxford, 16th York, 17th Edinburgh, 18th Belfast, 22nd Southampton, 23rd Swansea, 24th Manchester and 25th Birmingham. Worship Central have also announced that their forthcoming Global Day in London is returning to Central Hall, Westminster on Saturday 14th March 2009, with a focus on equipping worship teams to serve their churches. Across 2009 Worship Central will be running a series of events internationally, including two other Global Days in California and Hong Kong. There are also plans for a European, USA & Asian Tour in early 2009. Worship Central is a school of worship from Alpha International, led by Tim Hughes & Al Gordon, with a vision to encounter God, equip the worshipper and empower the local church. Since launching in 2006, over 35,000 people have attended training events on three continents, and hundreds of thousands have visited WorshipCentral.org for practical resources. Songwriter and worship leader Chris Tomlin recently lent his support, saying that "Worship Central is an important and much needed training ground for today's leaders. When it comes to leading the church, we need each other, and Worship Central is a wonderful place to connect."
The Worship Central monthly podcast continues to be one of the most listened to podcasts in the iTunes Religion & Spirituality Chart, returning to the #1 spot over the summer. The October edition will feature an exclusive interview with Martin Smith, where he discusses his journey as a worship leader and life after Delirious? The ‘Tim Hughes Live CD & DVD’ will be released by Survivor Records in early 2009. For more information visit WorshipCentral.org
