So I've locked myself in my room during college holidays to nail down some songs and get them recorded. Here's my first one. What do people think?

Lyrics
Verse 1
What does it take for man to change?
To lay themselves down for another
Oh God we need you
If we only do what pleases you
Then why do we deceive our brothers?
Oh God we praise you
Chorus
Hallelujah X3
You are wonderful
Verse 2
There's a holy call He has placed upon our lives
But most of us don't care
Oh God we need you
But God above has got such a gracious hand
And He's placed it over us today
Oh God we thank you
Verse 3
How come this world has forgotten your truth
When everything we see points the finger back at you
Oh God we thank you
Your people need to rise over circumstance
And offer up our lives to the work of your hands
Oh God we praise you
Bridge
We need a church that is fluent in grace
Doing everything in mercy and reflecting your face
We see the broken and we say "No more"
We're lifting up our eyes to sing
This song is mainly inspired from my experiences at Hillsong conference this year when Mike Pilavachi was speaking about the way worship justice and evangelism all go hand in hand and the verses are challenges put out there for us all and the bridge is an out-pouring of my heart about what we really need to be like as the church. But however the chorus is reflecting back to the fact that God is who we are seeking and we only take on these challenges because we want to rise up and be the church that God would desire on the earth.

Nice one mate. Good theme for sure.
I swear the chorus is from another song though lol

Funny you mention that I thought the same thing Jords!
Come on Phil confess...what is it :)
is it thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus, thank you Lord for loving me? that song?
I really like the way you have linked the verses with "oh God we thank you" and "oh God we praise you"
really roots the verses together even though they progress.
In all honesty I realised the chorus sounded familiar and tried to work out where I'd heard it from but then I couldn't find anything it reminded me of so I just went for it because it was memorable. The linking in the verses came at a later stage because of the way the rhythm was going and also it was becoming a bit of a 'telling the church off' kind of song and it needed to be focused back onto God.
