You Are God

Hi guys, I posted this song a while back but I made quite a few changes. Its quite simple, we've sung it in church a few time and people seemed to pick it up quite quickly. And thoughts or ideas to improve it? Verse Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Holy God Almighty, You reign forever more Bridge Search me O God and know my heart Test me and know all my worries See if my ways are offensive And lead me in the way everlasting Chorus You are God, You are good And I trust you, Trust with all my heart That You are God, You are good From everlasting to everlasting

Hi Tim, Thanks for that. I had put the lyrics up in the original post but for some reason the formatting got a bit messed up. I tried doing it again but had the same problem. Thanks for your encouragement!
no problems mate!
love god. love life. love worship
Just to pick up a couple of things: 1# proper translations either use four caps (LORD) or better use God's name, Yahweh - Is.6 is not about Jesus the Lord. If the text has LORD, use LORD, not detetragrammatonise into Lord else it encourages the slide from trinitarianism, excluding minds from the trinity by focus simply on the Son. Yahweh is the uncreated thus eternal society of three persons, whereas Jesus is the permanent temporal mode of the eternal second person of deity. The song begins as sung about God, then switches to direct address - "you". This makes it a hybrid song. Why not simply change "Holy is the LORD holy" to "Holy are you LORD holy"?

Wow, great voice! Love the song, too. I really like how you keep building through the whole song and then finish on the powerful refrain, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord." Awesome finish. I'd totally use this song, but I don't quite have the range to pull it off! How does the congregation go with it?

Hi Viny, thanks for the comments. As for the first point I'll be sure to type LORD instead of Lord next time I'm writing up the lyrics. As for the second point I understand what you are saying and will give it further thought as I continue to refine the song. Just trying to decide in my own head if a 'hybrid' song is a bad thing. Been thinking about the song 'Jesus Save.' The whole song is about Jesus and what Jesus has done for us. The bridge then turn to directly address Jesus as 'You,' That gives the bridge a massive impact. I know what I have done is different but there is something about the scripture "Holy is the Lord" that when you sing it, it is very powerful. Finding it hard to explain... It might make less sense grammatically and your totaly right - it would be an easy change to make. What do you think? Did any of that make sense?

Hi Beneames, thanks for that! Yep good point about congregation. When playing it in church I would normally drop it two or three semi tones so its not so high. Even then I wont always end on the bridge. Would sometimes end it on the chorus or if its in the middle of a set go to the bridge but quieter and take it down the octave. This would then transition nicely into another song.
Also just for note that vocal part on the bridge took several takes to get and even then a lot of cutting and pasting to get the final version - Would be struggling to pull it off live myself:)

Ha. Well I'm glad you did the extra takes, because it sounds awesome!

Hi, I just returned from CLAN (Christians Linked Across the Nation), a massive Christian Gathering in Scotland, and in the youth section they played this song. It was amazing! God totally worked through it! The only thing I would say is in your recording, the drums are a bit off time, but apart from that the song is wonderful!
