You are exalted

Hi there, The 'people's podcast' has been the kick I needed to get writing again, and so this is my first post here. This is a song that's been in the making for a little while, especially the tag. This recording is fresh off the computer, so I apologise for the mix, but hope you get the idea! So here 'tis: --------------- In love You rescued us In grace You draw us closer By Jesus' blood we're free His sinless sacrifice complete Almighty, Your Kingdom come You are exalted, our Father In Your strength we praise Your name We are Your people, we bow down, And we worship You today Lord You are righteousness Yet love us just as we are Your Spirit dwells in us O Spirit, sanctify and shape Almighty, Your will be done You are exalted, our Father In Your strength we praise Your name We are Your people, we bow down, And we worship You today Holy Holy, Lord Almighty Worthy is our God You are exalted, our Father In Your strength we praise Your name We are Your people, we bow down, And we worship You today We worship You today Yes we worship You today --------------- Please let me know what you think, and where I can change it to improve. many thanks & regards, Jon Jon Lindsay-Scott jonlindsayscott@gmail.com

Hey Jon, This is a strong kick-off. I like a lot of this, nice melody, simple, well played and sung and the lyrics are well-crafted. If I had one thought it's that it's difficult to identify the theme. It contains a lot of ideas of worship and each idea is well expressed, but after listening I wasn't really sure which aspect you were trying to draw out in particular.
Thanks for the comments Paul. The inspiration for the song as a whole was from Psalm 21 "Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength; we will sing and praise your might". The ideas for the verses were my interpretation of reminders as to why God deserves our exaltation, praise and worship. But I take your point and I think that may come of merging a few ideas together. Jon
Hi Jon, Nice! I especially like the "In Your strength we praise Your name" line - great lyric there! :-) Only thing that really jumped to mind was I wondered whether the bridge could be a bit stronger musically, perhaps build a bit more by changing the chord structure around? So something like the last time round, switching the first chord (Csus4?) to an Em and the G/B on "worthy" to a Bm. Just an idea but might give it that little bit extra oomph into the final chorus! Good work, I like it :-)
Michael - thanks for that. I've been playing around with what you suggested, and I really like the idea of going down to the Em instead of the C last time round, and then maybe following with D first inversion. Not 100% sure about the Bm as the first note in of the line "worthy..." is a C. But thank you so much for the feedback. Jon
Hi John, what a great song, especially where it builds up at the end. I'd love to hear that with a full band and really sing out the chorus section. I'm keen to hear more! Si

HI all,
I've updated this one and recorded with a full band set-up. I've also begun to use it in church a bit and the response has been pretty positive so far.
