Who is there in the heavens like you?

Hello, There are some really good songs on here and I hope that I can learn some important song writing lessons from you guys. This song has been introduced to my congregation twice, the second time after a major re-write of the chorus. The main thing I'd like some thoughts on is whether it needs anything adding. Originally it had a 3rd verse (which is unusual for me) but dropped it in the re-write as it didn't fit lyrically with the rest of the song. I don't want to do a tag for tagging sake. So what do you think? Any other comments welcome too. Bedroom recording whilst suffering from hayfever. 1. Who is there in the heavens like you? Who is there in all the Earth? Brighter than the sun is your glory, All creation sings forth your praise. Ch. Glorious God, Almighty One. King above all kings, Lord of all. Glorious God, The great I Am. Name above all names, Lord of all. 2. Who is there that has no beginning? Who is there that has no end? Yesterday, today and tomorrow, You’re the same, you never change. Hi Tim! I always read the words before I listen and the words are really strong and a great proclamation so was a bit surprised that is quite minor and chilled. a couple of things stood out for me maybe you could start the second half of the chorus with something different than "glorious God" with it already being used as you have the "Lord of all" holding it together and the other is "Yesterday, today and tomorrow, You’re the same, you never change." its a bit like vicky beechings... "Yesterday, today and forever, You’re the same, you never change." Again this is only my opinion which is very often wrong (more wrong than right) so see what the others think! I think it has bags of potential. Chris.
My only comment would be that looking at the lyrics first (like Chris did!) I felt like the song was going to stir me up and get me all excited about how great God is, and when it didn't it threw me off a bit. Apart from that I would second Chris's points about the lyrical changes. Sounding good though Niall
Yeah I have to agree with the other two Niall and Chris I was expecting something exuberant. I found the melody of the verses quite difficult. But actually as a whole I really liked it.
Chris, Niall, Matt, Thanks for your comments guys, I hadn't really looked at it like that but I can see what you mean about the words compared to the melody. Something to bare in mind for the future, cheers! On Chris's point about the lyrics in verse 2. After I had written it I realised where those words had been used before but I liked the way they answered the questions in the first 2 lines. Nobody has responded to my question about tagging or making it longer so I guess that it wasn't an issue with this song. Thanks for your input guys, very helpful. Tim Case www.newlife-church.org.uk

I don't think you need a tag- but then again you know that I liked the original chorus!!! I like the actual recording- that with the new mike? Nice sound. I like the harmonies as well. I can understand what the others are saying about reading the lyrics first and expecting a triumphant praise song though- maybe we should try a rock version later!
