Usually the string isn't the problem, although badly made strings do suck.
Where abouts are they breaking? Is it over the bridge? A lot of string breakages are down to having a sharp bridge saddle. You can get this smoothed easily and even a dab of lube will help.
The other thing is strumming technique! A friend of mine (and FAR superior guitarist to me) took his L'Arrivee LV10 in to our local shop to see our local guru. He did smooth out the saddle, but said that he was hitting into the strings to much, adjusted his technique and he hasn't broken a string since.
BTW I use D'Addario EJ16's and Newtone Masterclass strings and have had no probs at all.
Im useing martin mediums and they sound great and are long lasting , used them for three years and have only snapped a few.
But as said above if your hitting the strings to hard they will snap.
Same problem here. I had the saddled smoothed over and I tried to adjust my strum but it seemed that nothing was helping. Then a friend of mine showed me Ernie Ball Slinky Acoustic strings which are coated and have titanium RPS...it's been months and I haven't broken a string since.

I go for the martin heavy's what a good sound... not so good for the fingers though... not broken one for about 3 months though... and typically thats when i was leading Lol
i use martin regulars, but i'm not playing liek 24/7 so the heavys might be better (that's if your fingers are up for it lol)
ernie ball slinkys are really good too =]
Great advice above. Unless you are using light stings (e.g 009s) and hitiing them hard, then it's unlikely to be the fault of the strings, far more likely to be the point they change direction (saddle, bridge, nut or even tuning peg). If there is a sharp point, then that's where the string will fail. I use D'Addario EJ16's and stretch them pretty hard when I fit them. I'm fairly heavy handed but I use a flexible plectrim for acoustic strumming. Haven't broken a string in years. In fact I don't change them oftem enough cos I'm a bit tight... but that's another story. Hope you get your problem sorted.
I can vouch for Elixier nano or polywebs, ok so they're marginally more expensive, but boy do they sound good and they last longer strum for strum against any other string I've ever used

Oooh - is it always the same string as well as the same break-point?
Im useing martin mediums and they sound great and are long lasting , used them for three years and have only snapped a few.

good luck
god bless
I prefer Elixir Nanowebs because the tone life is extraordinary! you'll pay a premium price tho compared to say Martin strings...
God Bless,
Steve

I thought it was great advice too... dunno where Ian has gone tho'... I hope he's not too busy changing strings to check back sometime!! ;)
