VERSE 1:
Great is the darkness on earth
But greater is Your light, greater is Your light
So teach my heart to be still
And know that You are God, know that You are God
VERSE 2:
Though there is sorrow and pain
Soon it will be gone, soon it will be gone
Cos there's a day that is coming
When tears are wiped away, tears are wiped away
Rejoicing comes in the morning
As we see Your light
CHORUS:
There's a Light that's shining on the earth
A light unto the nations, hope for the world
There's a Light that's shining on the earth
Jesus, You're the Light
Jesus, You're the Light
VERSE 3:
Help me to love like You do
To be Your hands and feet here upon the earth
Come fill me now Holy Spirit
Then lead me to a world
Longing for Your touch
Let the whole world see Your glory
As you shine on us
CHORUS:
There's a Light that's shining on the earth
A light unto the nations, hope for the world
There's a Light that's shining on the earth
Jesus, You're the Light
Jesus, You're the Light
Awesome song. I love the verse melody, and the unexpected twist in the pre-chorus melody! My only thing would be that in the chorus the "There's a Light that's shining on the earth" line seems a bit rushed, maybe drop the "the".
It may just be me, but I felt like I was struggling to fit it in!
This is a great song, Wayne! I love everything about it. The little bit at the end is an awesome prayer/declaration... was that spontaneous?
Great job!
Hey Jessica - cheers for that! Yeah it was kinda spontaneous. Glad you like it - I love doing that bit in live worship, especially with a whole bunch of singers or a choir. Thanks again for the feedback.
Praise the KING mates !!! Undoubtedly a Spirit inspired tune ... great vocal hooks, lyrics, recording and electric guitars !!! Cheers from your brothers at the Vineyard in Lexington, KY !!! We will one day exalt His name together and eternally !!!
Cheers for the feedback - here are some chords. The recording is one semi-tone higher but we normally do it in the key of A and C (key change at chorus) as shown below. I haven't had a chance to transpose the chords to suit a female vocal (guys - you'll love this key, girls - you might want to do it in E and G (key change at chorus) and so it would start on an A.

The only thing I noticed was the departure of verse 3 from the lyrical format of verses 2 & 3, which use repeating phrases in every other line. It might put a finishing touch on the song to bring verse 3 into consistency with the other 2.
I'd also consider bringing the verse 3 drum groove in for verse 2 as well. Right now, the drums in verse 2 are a bit predictable. The verse 3 groove is so great, I'd like to hear it brought in sooner.
Worship Central's first ever UK Tour visited 9 cities across the UK, with over 8,000 worship leaders, musicians and worshippers gathering for the events.

Hey man,
Great lyrics, melody and song!
