Hello everyone,
Since lent this year, we've been using this song at church which I have co-written with a guy called Gareth Robinson, and really wanted to share it. It is a finish article, so it is unlikely that we will be changing it, however, I am still open to comments.
I felt more strongly, however, just to share the song as it has been a blessing to our church and some of the others in the surrounding area.
You will be able to download the mp3 from Monday from http://www.stthomascrookes.org/worship if you like it. The chords are already up on the site under the resouces page, however, the song is titled 'Great & Glorious Day'.
This recording is performed by Becca Staniforth and myself.
Thanks,
Nick
THERE WILL BE A DAY
There will be a day when death shall be no more
When sickness, sin and Satan, no longer will endure
And on that glorious day, when Jesus is revealed
He'll gather to Himself those who put their trust in Him
And He shall lead them home into the radiant light
Where God Himself shall wipe the tears from their eyes
And we shall live in peace and we shall be as one
Worshipping the Father, the Spirit and the Son
There shall be a roar from heaven's company
With shouts of, 'Hallelujah!', 'Salvation!' and 'Glory!'
For evil is no more, the victory is won
Injustice has been ended, the age of peace begun
Then all the saints will rise to full eternal life
Forgiven by the blood, forever purified
For now we're being prepared, transformed into the bride
Ready for the Father, the Spirit and the Christ
So we persevere and we will run this race
We'll fix our eyes on Jesus the author of our faith
Forever holding strong when troubles come our way
His great, eternal glory awaits us on that day
So through the trials we'll walk and hold on to the word
The promises of God, the new heaven and earth
This will be our hope and this will be our song
Glory to the Father, the Spirit and the Son
Glory to the Father, the Spirit and the Son

hi nick,
wow, fantastic song, really really strong.
its a modern hymn that could be as strong as something like in christ alone i think, its really excellent!
there are a few lyrics that i would look at tweaking to make it even better. i know you said you probably wont be changing it but food for thought for the future if nothing else.
ie why not say 'when jesus comes again' instead of Jesus is revealed? i know what youre trying to say but i think you can say it better. Jesus has already been revealed thats what im thinking.
also the 2nd verse starts in the future tense then moves straight into the present tense. ie there shall be' straight to, 'evil is no more'. if you said 'evil will be dead', and then 'injusitce will be ended' etc or something like that it would work better i think.
as the line about being transformed into his bride, arent we his bride already?
im not surprised its been a blessing, gareth has written lots of great songs down the yrs and this is another one.
well done!
God bless,
gav.

Hey Nick
Very very nice.
It does fit the hymn feeling like Gavin mentioned, it's great to have new songs that break away from the usual structure that most of our contemporary songs seem to follow. It's also got great depth that we don't see too often in many songs these days. Great work
And great vocals.
One question in the second (what do you call it) part, why do you change from 'Father, the Spirit and the Son' to 'Father, the Spirit and the Christ'?
Is it just for the rhyme?
