There seems to be a recurring theme with my posts but it is something I care deeply about.

Is this song Theologically sound? & Is this song congregational?
Could you introduce it this weekend?
If not, does it need to be filed under, "Nice Try" or could it be re-worked somehow?

The inspiration came primarily from Col 1:15-20 and a bit of Isaiah and Revelation as well.

Please feel free to be harsh!!!

The Living One

Verse:
Firstborn over all creation
Firstborn from among the dead
In you all things hold together
You're the beginning and the end

Pre Chorus:
Those in heaven crowd around Your throne
Shouting at the top of their lungs

Chorus:
"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,
Who was, and is, and is to come."

Bridge:
Day and night they never stop saying

Coda:
"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty..."
You reign supreme forevermore

This is the most accessible of the songs you've posted so far. I really like all the songs you've posted, but so far this one, in my opinion, is the one a congregation would find easiest to sing.

I like the progression from verse (declaring the truth about who Jesus is) to the bridge (demonstrating that Jesus is recognised as King by all in Heaven) to the chorus where we join with them singing and declaring His holiness.

It's possible that in a church worship band the arrangement may need to be tweaked slightly to make it a bit simpler for bands that don't always play together, but as far as the song goes, in my opinion, if it works with just an acoustic guitar and voice then the song works. This one does.

Good song i must say. Very uplifting.

One thing I would say, is maybe try bring it down a few keys, as it is very difficult to sing, and I think it would stuggle in a congregation.

But bringing it down a few keys would help people to be able to sing it more easily, and comfortable, and therefore help them to concentrate on God

Hope this helps

God Bless

I really do love your stuff Ben, this one has a bit of a "mutemath" vibe to it which I really like, I would echo the comment about the key if you did use it congregationally.

Only thing I would question is "shout at the top of their lungs" I'm not sure but do angels / elders / living creatures even have lungs!?

Hi Ben,

I love this song just to listen to, congregational or not. Sweet voice and arrangement.

I don't think it's any less congregational than some of Hillsong United's more complex arrangements that have proved to be popular.

Fellows,
Point taken on the key. When recording I tend to amp it up to where I am comfortable but I wouldn't impose such torture on a congregation.

Chris,

I had to laugh when I read the lungs comment. I feel comfortable with the phrase due to it's sing-ability and that I am probably not offending any of the host of heaven in doing so. If the Bible can attribute physical attributes to God, surely we can do so the the heavenly host??

Thanks for the encouragement!
