Will not traduce, nor speak falsehood
2. Whoever does no wrong to a brother
who casts no slur upon a neighbour
spurns the godless’ false accord,
but honours those who fear the Lord.
3. Whoever keeps a pledge, come what may;
Who asks no interest on a loan made
Who no bribe against the innocent takes
Such a one will stand and stay

Hi John,
You are clearly a talented guy - it is very hard to set psalms like this and I enjoyed this. I think you should have the hook line three times in total each time with the third as the variation if that makes sense. That would give you call/response/all and would make more sense musically and give the congregation more time with the key line IMHO. I think you need to do some work on the lyrics of the verses - I don't think that people understand 'traduce' and 'spurns the godless’ false accord' isn't clear. They feel rather stilted which is a hazard of this kind of setting. I think you should go further away from the psalm to achieve a good effect. Hope that's helpful. God bless.

Thanks for these very worthwhile suggestions, Ian. I like to bash on with things as fast as I can, the better to get to the next one, and that means I probably don't give some aspects as much consideration as I might. I've done some others and paln to do some more. I'll put them up here in the next while.
John
