Here is a song I am currently working on. I have all my 3 verse. A Chorus and a Bridge is coming.
I decided to write this song cause I got really inspired by the song 'We Give Praise' written by Matt Osgood.
I don't have a chorus yet. I have a melody for the verses but its not as good as Matt Osgood's.
So what do you guys think any improvements?
No Mp3 yet, I though I'd finish it before uploading. So what do you guys think so far?
Verse 1:
We Worship the Name of the Father
The One seated on the Throne
Sovereign Lord, Ancient of Days
The One who gives Salvation
Almighty Creator, The Great I AM
Verse 2:
We Worship the Name of the Son
The Lamb seated on the Throne
Atoning Sacrifice, Anointed One
The Salvation given by God
Alpha and Omega, The Great I AM
Verse 3:
We Worship the Name of the Spirit
The One that guides to the Throne
Holy Spirit, Breath of God
The One who brings Salvation
Consuming Fire of God, The Great I AM

hey phil,
nice work with this one. pack full of truth!
im no theologican but i think the lyrics hold tight biblically. tho i could be wrong on that!
my main question is seeing as the spirit is also God and part of the trinity is the spirit not on the throne also?
as for a chorus and bridge, it might no need one. it could be a really cool new hymn!
i'd love to hear it!
God bless,
gav.

Hi Phil, thanks for your kind words about 'we give praise', I'm blushing though! :) The Trinity has been such a neglected area of our songs for ages it's great to see more songs coming out, I think Paul Robertson has a great Trinity song on here as well (as does Gav for that matter). It'd be worth checking all those out as well.
I can't remember exactly the Biblical justification for it, but I have a vague feeling that 'the one who guides to the throne' is actually quite accurate, something about Jesus saying the Spirit will 'lead us into all truth' (John 14??) and that's indicative of the Spirit's role in drawing us to God (Gal 4:6 is another verse that comes to mind but again it's not exactly saying the Spirit leads us to the throne, it's more the Spirit inspires us to call out to God)
I'd maybe query the 'worship the NAME of ...' - is that right? Wouldn't it be more straightforward to just say 'We worship the Father/Son/Spirit' rather than their name? Dunno, again there may be Biblical reasons for that, but that was the only thing that stuck out to me. Other than that you've packed masses of theology into a small space, so nice work! Maybe if you did write a chorus it could be a much simpler thing, maybe just something like:
We worship you
The One, the Three
The great I AM
The Trinity
or something even simpler?
God bless,
Matt

I would be better with a chorus. You see, I can't actually find anything in the Bible saying that the Spirit on the throne. The Bible says The one on the Throne and the Lamb. It says the Spirit of God is before the throne.
Im no theologian and I could be wrong. Correct me if im wrong.
I might change it to -
'The One that guides to the Son'
In Christ

Your comment
Jesus is Lord
Matt
When I was writing this, the hardest verse to write is actually verse 3.
Yeah, I might change the start. We do have people that say "We praise your Holy Name".
Psalm 145
I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name forever and ever.
Yeah, I think i might change it.
I hope you don't mind if I do steal that line 'The One, the Three' for my chorus. LOL
I had 'Hosanna' in mind for the Chorus at first. I wanted to have something similar to the song 'How great is our God' that goes 'The Godhead, Three in One, Father Spirit Son.'
I think I might have my chorus like this -
We Worship You
Our God Who Reigns
Your Hosanna in the Highest
Father Spirit Son
The One, The Three
The Great I AM
I might consider the 'Your' in the 'Your Hosanna in the Highest'
In Christ
