Thank You

I wrote this song while reflecting on the life of our local body throughout the last year. I wanted to provide an opportunity to sing of God's faithfulness despite our hardship and suffering. I would appreciate any thoughts, tips or comments. Lyrics are below. Thanks, benmead Thank You V1: Thank You Great Provider For all You’ve given me Though I’ve known want and plenty You’ve met my every need Chorus: When I think what would be But for You and what You’ve done for me I wonder I marvel at Your love V2: Thank You Great Protector For sheltering my soul Though tragedy befall me You’ve kept me safe and whole V3: Thank You Great Redeemer For suffering on that tree Though once I was a stranger Your blood atoned for me Bridge: O sovereign God It’s who You are, it’s what You’ve done Tag: I wonder I marvel at Your love

Can I get a witness?
Hi Benmead, I seem to remember liking most of the stuff you put up here before, and this is no exception! I really like your instrumentation (sounds a bit like Athlete, one of my favourite bands...) The first two verses of the song are consistent in terms of theme, but then the songs seems to veer off in a different direction, i.e. it starts talking about how God keeps us safe and provided for throughout our struggles and then goes off to talk about redemption from sin, which to me doesn't really fit the rest of the song. I like the build up in the bridge, but have to ask: What is "who you are" and what is "What you've done"? As I said, however, I really like the song, and love your instrumentation, understated and yet compelling to listen to! God Bless, Alex

Alex. Thanks for the feedback! A couple thoughts in reply... Re: Verse 3, it is hared for me to imagine thanking our sovereign God and not including the cross. For me it is intrinsically intertwined into who He is and what He's done for me. Re: The bridge, "who You are" is my provider, protector and redeemer. "What You've done" is provide, protect and redeem. I think of it as a worshipful response to our sovereign God for who He is and what He's done... Thoughts?
Anyone else have any thoughts? All opinions appreciated.
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
wow. ben. i'm blown away. it's not very often that you hear an original worship song that pushes musical boundaries. leans outside of the mold. you've done it. well done! i love it. great, great job. the only thing i could hear different was have a live drum kit and some heavier guitars come in on that bridge. it builds so well into it....i might just go for it all the way. again, fantastic!

Thanks Jeramy. We have been playing it with a full band at church and the bridge is defiantly the highest moment dynamically. I may just add a fuller arraignment in Garageband. Thanks for the encouragement.
