Just curious how other people organize personal study time. Do you get up early to read the bible, or do you read in the afternoon etc.? Do you regularly worship on your own, with what songs or instruments, and where, when do do that? What things have worked best for you to keep the personal aspect of your faith alive, maybe I'll steal your schedule! |

hey =]
Ummm no particular study time really, but i go to a bible study group/house group on alternate mondays (which is really good since we got our new youth worker, he explains thigs really well and we look at things really in-depth. working through Genesis at the moment and i'm really understanding it so much more, and asking myself more questions about what it all means =]). And i have this study book type thing which i read in the evenings when i get into bed - i know some people say that last thing at night before you go bed isn't exactly a great time to do it, but different things work for different people. and i find it easiest to concentrate at this time (i'm really not a morning person!)
Also, with my guitar in my room, i often start playing worship songs while i'm on my computer. Sometimes being interrupted with things like msn conversations, or facebook, but i do try to ignore them because i'm trying to worship God (which i find harder with distractions). And i sometimes grab one of the Spring Harvest music books (or my mum's worship group folder with goodness knows how many songs in it!) and either try them on my guitar which i'm not that good at, or go downstairs and use the piano and sng along with all my heart. Again, at no particular time.
I have tried to read my Bible, but i just either get confused or am like 'yeh, okay... so what now?' (which my bible study group is really helping me with). I try to live life as best i can for God. Of course it's hard, but i persevere and really try to do my best, like not swearing, helping others even if i don't like them etc. I know these can sound a bit simple and not exactly hard, but sometimes the things that seem the most simple can often be the ones that are more challenging, don't they.? It's great as well cos some of my mates keep asking me about my faith and stuff. Now i used to be terrible at this, go all shy and just not want to talk about it. But over the past 4 or 5 years i've prayed about it and God has given me the strenthg and courage to talk about Him more (and with no embarassment anymore as well!) which is really good =]
So basically, praying has really changed me for the better and i've don'e things i dind't think i would've done without God helping me =]
sorry for the mega-post lol

Hey Nic
The trouble is with that book is that i read more than one days when i read it lol. I get carried away and read a lot. I've tried following it but i gave up.

I've got the word 4u 2day as well! I read it every morning. I couldn't do a full Bible study session in the morning though, my brain isn't in gear that early! I've been doing Bible study times regularly (used to be at least 3 times a week, but has now been pushed down to only 1 :(, I need to sort that out); and I also play on my guitar whenever I want to. When i've been at home I've been using the piano to worship, but not singing along cos I can't concentrate on both singing and playing at the same time.

I normally have regular Bible study times (was about 3 times a week, but it's been pushed down to 1 :( must sort that out..) and play and sing to my guitar when I want. When I'm at home I play on the piano as worship (but don't sing - I can't concentrate on both singing and playing at the same time).
sorry for the double-posting!
lol don't worry.
yeh pianos and guitars are good :) lol
ooh i've asked for (and hopefully will get for Christmas) this study book called 'Cover to Cover' which basically gives you say 3 or 4 chapters to read each day, but it's in a chronological order of events (so, say, could have Genesis and then Isaiah, or something like that) to make it a bit more understandable. will see how i get on with that, which i'm looking forward to :D
