Spirit We Honour You
2 replies
Hey everyone! I wrote this at 1AM last night (17th Jan 2010) when preparing a worship set with a friend via text for the service at 10.30AM the same day. I did use it this morning and it seemed to go well and had some good feedback - so stuck this recording together in 10 mins to show you all. It's all about how we need the Holy Spirit and how through Him we are changed. It's really short and I think it'll just be like a tag used in worship sets as opposed to a whole song? Please let me know what you think! "Spirit We Honour You" Music and Lyrics by Oliver Snelling G_______Csus2________Em7__________D Spirit we honour You, we need You in this place F_______C        Fall here, consume us God D________(G - 2nd time only) Now and always.  Am_______Em__________G____________D Meet us, embrace us Lord, never to be the same. ____Am______________Em____________D We pray that  You would fill our lives, that we might be changed.

It look's like you don't have Adobe Flash Player installed. Get it now.

I like what you've got going here. A simple song, if well done, is probably one of the most powerful types. I just had two thoughts for you on it. For me, this is a personal observation, songs that invite God to show up seem a tad misleading. As if God wasn't there already. Get what I mean? I think a more meaningful, and powerful song, recognises how God is everywhere and we merely acknowledge His omnipresence. That would be a small thing to consider, if you agree it is just a matter of changing a word or two in the verse. The line of the chorus, "meet us, embrace us Lord, never be the same" the line "never be the same" technically refers to God, if you added another pronoun like "meet us, embrace us Lord, n' we'll never be the same" would clear that up. Its a good song! Keep writing!

Brilliant. I completely see your point and actually, since I wrote this, I chatted to a friend of mine about that particular issue! I will have a fiddle. Thanks for the useful comments! Blessings. Oli
