This is a song that I've had in various forms for about 2 years, and it's (in my eyes at least) come together over the past week or so. The first verse is more or less a direct quote of the opening of Psalm 40, then the rest of the song is sort of a reflection on that theme. I'm not convinced it's finished yet, so I'd welcome any feedback :)

Thanks for taking the time to give me some thoughts on this, I really appreciate it :)
I've been talking with a friend with this song, and I think that because it's been around in my head for so long, I got quite precious about it and thought it was a better idea than it was. I'm gonna have another look at it in a couple of weeks when I've had some time to take my mind off it, and I'll see what happens then :)

great start on this song.
well done at keeping at it for over 2 yrs its v frustrating when it takes it long sometimes!
heres a few ideas that could make the song even better:
-keep the tenses more consistent. ie you sing to God in the 3rd person in v1 (He), then change to God in the 1st person (You) for the rest of the song. why not change v1 to be in the 1st person aswell?
i think the song loses its way a bit in v2, esp with darkness defeaning? and the dusky cloak of night are a bit odd lyrically. why not go back to psalm 40 to find lyrical ideas?
i like the bridge, quite original!
keep working on it, great song potential
