So I tend to use Sigur Ros and Mogwai when I just want to chill out with God, but I was wondering if there were any other bands out there that people would recommend for this kind of thing! |

try moby, massive attack, portishead, beth orton, damien rice, mercury rev
Explosion In The Sky are a cool version of Sigur Ros.
Zero 7 are also very chilled out as well as..
Cinematic Orchestra
A couple of less obvious ones:
Check out Craig Armstrong - he does the keys and strings for Massive Attack, Portishead, U2... whilst also doing the film scores for Baz Lurman's Romeo and Juliet, Goldeneye, Plunkett & Maclean.
Oh and Lamb's "What Sound" and their Vocalists solo stuff - Lou Rhodes.
EIST are a great shout
as is cinematic orchestra
there's a band called mono who are quite chilled out instrumental stuff
on the electronica side of things, you can't beat a bit of early day aphex twin
Download the song "Midnight Souls Still Remain" by M83. It's a nice pad with two chords over and over for 10 minutes. I loop that and it's perfect.
I’d also add Guster, DJ Shadow and the Garden State Soundtrack to the “Chill” list.
I'd also 2nd Sim's vote for Aphex Twin, and Robbies for Zero 7 good stuff!
So not strictly al a sigur ros - try note for a child, it is stunning and chilled - i found by accident. Gotta go with the Zero 7 vote.
oh and lamb, letting go by nitin sawhney his beyond album has some stuff to chill with.
happy searching, finding and chilling
I love that M83 song Caleb recommended. Also check out The Album Leaf (love them), Radiohead, Broken Social Scene - "Feel Good Lost", Cinematic Orchestra - "To Build A Home", and sometimes I'll listen to movie scores (John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Ennio Morricone-The Mission, Blood Diamond, Remember The Titans)
