Wonderful Son, bringing good news to the least,
Setting the bound captives free, our prince of peace.

Glory to God, glory to God in the highest.
BR: Humble saviour, Born in a manger,
This is Jesus, Our Great Redeemer.

Hi Gav,
Loving the feel of this song. For some reason it reminds me of the Divine Comedy (the band...)
I have to admit I respectfully disagree with Mr Hatch about the chorus. Yes "Glory to God in the Highest" has been used in other songs, but the reason for this is that that is what the angels sang, so Biblically it is accurate, so I would leave the lines as they are.
I personally like the fact that you have alluded to the fact that Mary was just a scared girl yet trusted God. Some fresh ideas for a Christmas song, as they often paint a rosy picture of what must have been a very scary thing for a young unmarried girl at the time.
Admittedly the second verse uses some more well known ideas, but then we are talking about a Christmas song!
In relation to the Chorus, how would you feel about going up instead of down on the end of High-est? I think it would lift the chorus a little and make it slightly more "praisy" (for lack of a better word!)
Keep up the good work.

thanks for thoughts guys
i had thought about going up on highest alex so probably will now!
yeh good challenge mr hatch, its hard to say things in a fresh way esp at christmas! but thats the challenge.
God bless,
gav.
Hi Gav,
I really like this, the first verse especially portrays "Christmas" very well.
How would you feel about tarting up the chorus a bit? Same words just different accentuations.
Glo -oh -oh -ry to God
Glo -oh -ry to God
In the highest (going high)
Glo -oh -oh -ry to God
Glo -oh -ry to God
In the highest
It gives it a bit of a Christmas feel chorus then.
God Bless
Neil
thanks for your thoughts guys
ive almost finished this but have had suggestions that the bridge could be better.
heres a few ideas anyone like any of these suggestions? (or can you think of a better one?!!)
Humble saviour, left heavens splendour,
Worship Jesus, Our Great redeemder,
or
Heavens maker, came down to save us,
Worship Jesus etc
or
Bring your praises
To our humble saviour, worship Jesus etc
or
Worship Jesus
Our Humble Saviour,
We remember or (come and honour)
Our Great redeemer.
or
Heaven's maker
became our neighbour
worship Jesus etc
Cheers,
gav.
Gavin
the first suggestion is the one that works the most
Humble saviour, left heavens splendour,
Worship Jesus, Our Great redeemder
.

Gavin
this is shaping up to be a really good song for christmas.
the Glory to God in the highest, has been a very familiar phase in a lot of worship song over the years.
by Al Gordon and Luke Hellebronth,Ben Cantelon,Chris Tomlin etc.
maybe it would be good if you looked at the lyrics of great christmas songs.
and then see if you could improve on them.
the hardest thing for any songwriter is writing songs in a fresh new creative way.
i think you you come up with a better chorus, rather than a obvious one.
this song would still really work with the chorus you have, but i believe you could come up with an even better one.
