Lyrics: V1 Lord I give You all I have, These words are not enough, This heart I rend before You, come Lord, please have Your way. Make Your light to shine on the deepest places, Make Your light to shine on the deepest places. Ch1 I lift my hands, I lift my voice, I fall before You at the cross (repeat) And my heart cries out, my heart cries out, “Forgive me, Lord” V2 You’ve changed my heart, renewed my mind, And You have heard my cry. You lift my head to see Your face, Your beauty fills my eyes. You make Your light to shine from the deepest places. (repeat) Ch2 I lift my hands, I lift my voice, I fall before You at the cross (repeat) And my heart cries out, my heart cries out, “You are my Lord” Andrew Weir & Jackie Watson, 2003 visit me at www.andrewweir.co.uk

Hey Andrew, Great song, really strong and very congregational. The chorus is really simple and lifts the song. the word "rend" seems a bit lost in what is otherwise quite fresh lyrics you could maybe change it to "lay" and the only other thing God is changing our hearts and minds is an ongoing process... and to me it would fit the rest of the theme of the song if the second verse was something like Change my heart, renew my mind Lord come and hear my cry, Lift my head to see your face, (///something here///) Make your light shine from the deepest places You make your light shine from the deepest places thats just my take on it! Really great song though either way.
Hey Chris, Thanks for your comment. It's a funny one. Like the comments on your song (about veils), I think the word *rend* speaks more than lay down. There's that verse (I was about to call it a line!) in Joel 2:13 that says "rend your hearts, not your garments". That really spoke to me about the stripping off of our old heart, my old man, my old way in surrender to the King of Kings. I totally get that it's a bit old-school, but like the *veil* chat from your song, the words can make us think - like all good art ;-> And verse two, yeah, I hear you. This was really borne out of us being a journey in the song - from repentance and brokenness to receiving Grace, Mercy and being a new creation, the old has gone. I have a new heart, flesh - not stone. And we are to fix our eyes on who we are in Christ (which is ransomed, healed, restored & forgiven, right?) - I think it's good that we sing words of hope - that are perhaps the future truth (or prophetic word), acknowledging what the Grace of God is all about. I get where you are coming from tho and *please* don't think I'm dissing it!!! visit me at www.andrewweir.co.uk

no need to step tentatively i'm on a learning curve like everyone else! I'm just being more vocal tonight as my wife is watching some rubbish "house" programme! :) It's great that you can back up why you have what you have in a song. Someone once said that to me if you put something in know and challenge yourself why you did it, and i found that helpful. suppose the second bit is a justification vs sanctification thing? where we are completely forgiven and new in Christ (justified) yet this is a continuing work to be sanctified and renewed and we are told to train our selves to be godly, 1 Tim 4:7 which to me indicates that its a fight to stay pure etc... and im forever having to ask God to work on my heart and mind - maybe its because unfortunately with Paul it feels like I can say "im the greatest of sinners" anyway i dont pretend to be a great theologian so im sure someone else can help! :D blessings mate
p.s great website btw i'll be bookmarking it ;)
My ladies (wife and baby) as in bed, so I'm being equally brave!! Totally agree with the justification v sanctification thing. (sounds like it should be on a rubbish TV challenge game....). Anyway, I think you are right. It is a fight, and in a fight we have to fix eyes on the prize. We have a future and a hope! Like Abraham, who despite everything that looked like failure, he only had success on his mind - especially once he realised that doing in his own strength wasn't going to do it. And we know the Kingdom we have been transferred into (Col 1:13) is not some far off thing, but it's here, we just don't see it most of the time (like Rich's song said!)! This is just commentary tho. As Rob Bell said "God has spoken..." And also with you. (Blessings, that is!) W visit me at www.andrewweir.co.uk

I enjoyed this, it's one of those songs that reaches something in you, the use of dynamics, instrumentation and melodies gives it lots of colour and power. What a great gift music is eh!? Nick
