"Longing"

Hey everyone! This is a song I wrote a month or so ago. I really wanted to write a song that brought out my hearts desire to share what God has given to us. Recorded with a Samson G-Track, a MIDI keyboard and GarageBand. Here are the chords and lyrics. See what you think! Thanks. Oli ------------------------ Verse E C*m There's a longing in my heart, Bsus4. Asus2. To tell of all You've done. E. C*m And I want to tell the world Bsus4. Asus2 About your only son. Pre-Chorus F*sus4. A And nothing can compare, F*sus4. B to this love that I must share. Chorus E You're the one who's changed me C*m You're the one who's made me clean. Bsus4. Asus2 No one can do the things you do. E. C*m So take my life and use it for your glory Bsus4. Asus2. I give all that I am to you. Everyday I live, I want to be a light. Shining for your glory at the frontline of the fight. Bridge (E C*m Bsus4 Asus2) You are the only One, You are the way You are the only One, You are the truth You are the only One, You are the life And I love You Yes, I love You (Last time - C7)

Sorry. Not sure why the lyrics and chords have come out like that. Hope you can make some sense out of it?!!!

HI Oli, I really like this. Sounds a bit like an old christian band from the late 90s/early 00's called "Steve". The only thing I would suggest is that the first verse seems to be directed at the Father, whereas the rest of the song seems to be directed at the Son. I realise they are One God, but it might make it slightly more coherent if it were all directed at the same facet of God. I particularly like the harmonies and the modulation at the end of the song. And you have an amazing singing voice. Good work!

Oli, this song is great. Authentic sentiment - it sounds straight from the heart and a fresh sound musically.

I agree with Alex that your voice sounds great particularly in the upper register and I really like the bv harmonies, as well as the vocoder type effects and synth sounds (echoes for me of Ben Folds meets Bruce Hornsby!)

On a production note - the delayed lead vocal is unusual and interesting but I would probably apply it more sparingly - say on just the verse and add a harmony to the chorus (just an opinion, so take or leave).

Yours M.

Oh and another thing - I could imagine you singing and playing this as a testimony slot in a service.

I really like the line about shining like a light on the front line. However, I feel like there a beautiful moments in the lyrics and others that are bland.

Nice melodies. It'd be great to hear a band building on the "nothing can compare" area prior to the final chorus.

The delay is a bit much. Wonderful start to something really nice.
