I like this post! I'm new- had noticed lack of females and wondered if I'd missed something completely... like some bible verse saying 'and women shall not take up their guitars and make up their own songs' (I became a christian 8 years ago and still haven't read the whole bible so you never know...)
I've just started writing stuff and doing some small group worship a few months back. I don't have the technology to upload stuff - instead I'm testing it out on my small group -who are as honest as they come e.g. "I can't sing that! it's too high!" or "it's too difficult to sing" or just changing the conversation altogether after you've played them something. or,just occasionally, "teach us that one" - they're great. as well as other poor unsuspecting innocents in the church like chris sayburn -lucky him. Would recommend trying stuff out on your small group for any other non-techno-endowed women (or men) who write stuff - it's a great way to get feedback.
ARRRRRG Penny! I welcome ye to this ere’ songwriting forumy-thing! Tim and Al, me hearties, you ought pay a shilling per post for all female worship songwriters/leaders!
I agree! Where are all the female songwriters out there?!! I've uploaded some of my songs, jus very rough recordings that I've done at home. I've really been encouraged by the comments I've received.
