King of All

Here's a song I've written, coming out of the events of Easter, and what it all means for us on this side of the resurrection.... The new king is here, a new kingdom has come (and one day will be even greater), and it's unlike any other kingdom ever seen. This one brings life, and love, and grace - and hope. Here are the lyrics. Love to hear some thoughts.

Hear the sound
And feel it rising loud
A new day’s coming now
A new day’s coming now

So raise your voice
Let’s join and make some noise
For love’s victorious
For love’s victorious

And we live to bring you praise
And we join the heavens to say

The king of all the earth is here
The song of love, the prince of peace
Forever, forever we’ll sing
The king of hope, the king of grace
You gave it all, you took our place
Forever, forever we’ll sing

What can I say?
It takes my breath away
This love amazes me
Amazes me

Jesus Christ
Who gave up even his life
Now rules the universe
The universe

The world is waking
Dawn is breaking
All creation has longed for this day
Love victorious
Hope is glorious
Here’s our song, let it soar, Jesus reigns

Hi Ben, like this, you've got some great stuff here. Couple things i'd would suggest just for thought. One thing I've been thinking about in my own writing is whether there is a need for a pre chorus. If you have a strong verse that leads and a strong chorus entry is there a need for a pre chorus? Some time I find it can feel like an extra step that not always needed? Certainly with this song the end of the verse would build nicely into the chorus.
Other thing I would say most of the song is sung from a 'we' perspective a part from verse 3 which changed to I. If it was kept to one or the other it might flow a bit better from a congregational point of view.

Like I said some great stuff here - especially the first couple of lines in the chorus are a great hook line.
Thanks for sharing this!

Thanks for the feedback, Philip! Yeah, you're right, you don't always need to have a pre-chorus. I did have a go at this without the pre, but it sounded a little abrupt coming into the chorus. I also wanted to have it as our personal response ("so we live our lives for you, to bring you glory").

I've just changed the lyrics in the second line, because apparently I stole one of Delirious' lines, almost word-for-word, without realising! Sorry Mr Smith!
