Second post here, getting brave! This song has been ongoing for a few years, but I think it may be finished now, or pretty close to it. Its been played in our church quite a few times as it is now, and works pretty well with guitar and keyboard. Let me know what you think Blessings Neil Jesus, My Lord, My Saviour Chorus: G-D---------C-----------G Jesus, my Lord, my Saviour ----G--------------D----------C---G My friend, my brother, my redeemer. ----Em-------------------------C----------D My Lord who came and died for me ----G--------D-------C---------G My sins forgiven, I’m set free V1: G-D---------C Jesus, my guiding light ------G---------D-----------C You are the way, the truth, the life. ---Em------------------------C------D I come before you, in all my shame. ------G-------------D----------Am---D-----Dsus-D But I’ve found you, I’m born again Chorus: V2: G-------D-----------C Jesus, Lord, we hear your call. ----G---------------------D-----------C To love each other one and all. -----Em--------------------C-----------D We humbly serve, as you command. ------G----------D------Am------------D----Dsus-D And lift your name across each land Chorus: V3: G---------------D------------C By faith, we walk with you our Lord ------G--------D---------------C And by the Spirit we’re empowered. -----Em---------------------------C---------D We praise your name, We make it clear ------G------D-------------Am----------D----Dsus--D We let all know your Kingdom’s near Chorus: V4: G-------D-----C Jesus, risen Lord of all. -------G-----------D-------------C You promised you would come once more Em--------------------C---------D Until that day we will proclaim G-------D-------Am--------D-----Dsus-D Jesus, name above all names Chorus:

Hi Neil, lots of good stuff in this song, I like the way you work through loads of different aspects of Jesus' work in us whilst keeping it to the central theme. Just a few thoughts that you're welcome to take or leave: I come before you, in all my shame. But I’ve found you, I’m born again seems slightly confused in the order in which things happen, cos 'I come before' Jesus, but then in the next line I find him - which clearly must have already happened for me to come to Jesus. Also there's a Scriptural argument to be had over whether it's more true to say God finds us (a la the lost sheep etc) than we find him, but lets not go into Calvinism/Arminianism here.... Would something like this work? You came and found me, in all my shame And washed me clean, I'm born again Also, a little musical point, at the moment there's not much variation between verse and chorus, which could get a bit much after four verses - it's the same chords throughout and the tunes start one the same note. Could I suggest trying some alternative melodies for the verse that maybe start a bit lower so it lifts a bit more to the chorus? Also maybe only use half as many chords for the verse (e.g. one chord every two bars rather than every bar) so that the chorus gains momentum with quicker chord changes? Just my thoughts on it, as I said take or leave it, if you're already using this song then changing it might just confuse everyone! Hope that helps, Blessings, Matt www.RESOUNDworship.org Free New Worship Songs

Would agree with Matt, especially with the chorus / verse variation, How do you write so many good verses!! :)
well done neil, deep simplicity and simply deep, a great song that captures so many aspects of our forgiving friend
Thanks for all your comments so far guys This started out a few years back as a 5 verse "Hymn", well sort of. The first verse was the chorus as it currently is. I bumped into Gavin Ball in another forum back then who suggested to take the first verse and make it into a chorus. I just havent managed to break the verses away from the chorus very well yet. I dont know if I am just too close to it or what, to really mix it up and change it. Thats really why I dropped it into here, to get some more feedback and ideas. Matt:- I like the "Washed my clean, I'm born again" line I'll play with that Also re: changing a song:- I had a Worship Horror Moment with this one actually. We had used the song a couple of times a few years ago in its previous "Hymn" format. I changed it quite a bit last year, and sent through all the new words, verses and chorus for projection etc etc. It was a long enough gap for most folk to have forgot the original but..... Guess what got projected. Nobody new what we were playing or singing, they could only join in with the chorus! Thanks for being so constructive guys, this is one I'd really like to finish off, it was one of my first songs. I like it as is, but it can only get better! Blessings Neil
