Here's a simple song that just kind of came together. I worry it may be too simple? I purposefully played with some noun/verb relationships to try to offer some neat layers to the chorus (or so the goal was in my head).
Jesus I know
I've drug You through the mud
how great's Your love
You clean me up again
Jesus I hate
to think of where I've been
how great's Your love
You pick me up again
You alone are the reason
peace can fill,
my heart, is aching to be close to You
You alone are the reason
hope has filled
my soul, overtaken by this love You give
Much love, ~Marc

Hi Marc I echo Murray's comments (although I'm concerned as to in what context he does use drug!)
I agree that "drug" should be dragged (you've made up a great verb conjugation there though).
I enjoy the folk style as well.

Hey Murray!
I'm in this sort of 3/4 folk stint right now! I want to learn fiddle, get a dobro, do lap-steel guitar etc... its bad. :) But in terms of corporate worship, I actually think the 3/4 folk style lends itself very nicely to the group setting.
I hear what you're saying about "drug"; I think it is just poor english, Scottish or NW USA! I was curious so I went overboard and found this little tidbit online: http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/dragged-versus-drug.aspx
There are so many words I could easily put in there to replace drug. Like, pull, hau etc... but maybe I could just re-phrase it? like, "Jesus I know I've been out in the mudd" or something like that.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and help me out!

Murray, I finally got on Last.fm and typed in 'Crooked Still'... Now, I need a banjo, madolin... and preferably, a fiddle! Such fun, community driven and lively music bluegrass is! I love it; how fun would worship be if set to this!?

Hi Marc
I don't think this is too simple (altho' often simple is best).
I like the way the lyric of the second last line of the chorus overlaps with the last line. I also like the Dobro-style guitar I can hear in places.
The only thing I'm not sure of is the line 'I've drug you through the mud' - Do you mean 'dragged' (this may just be cos I'm Scottish and don't use drug in that context)
This has a great folk feel to it. I hope you don't mind me saying but I can hear this being given the full bluegrass treatment - with an arrangement like the band 'Crooked Still'.
Yours
Murray.
