Jesus Culture

Hello everyone, Happy New Year... for a month ago! Recently I watched and listened to the DVD/CD 'We Cry Out' by Jesus Culture. I was just wondering how big they are in the UK? Have any of you guys heard their music?

Their stuff is really powerful, although I don't think they write much of there own music but they do do a lot of good songs, such as 'Rain Down', by Delirious? 'How He Loves', and 'Holding Nothing Back' by Tim Hughes. You can download their CD and their others on iTunes but it's worth getting the DVD. Here's a link to the website if you haven't seen it anyway...  http://jesusculture.com/ ...seminars, worship, testimonies all on there.

God is good.
I only really know 'You Won't Relent' which is a brilliant song, although I have an issue with one of the lyrics...

Last year I spent 6 months leading worship at a church in California and Jesus Culture stuff was huge there (Jesus Culture is based at Bethel Church, Redding, CA). The following year's album, Your Love Never Fails (2008) is even better in my opinion. 2009's Consumed is a bit different with some more original songs and maybe a bit more creative musically. You can catch the next Jesus Culture Encounter event live and free on www.ibethel.tv on 5-6 February.
I've come across them via YouTube. There are some get videos of live worship to view, e.g. See His Love by Tom Lockley which Kim Walker-Smith belts out with real passion. They seem to be developing into being a 'worship stable', much like Hillsongs United, Passion (Chris Tomblin/Matt Redman & Co.) or ironically even Worship Central (Tim and Al should be proud). By this I mean they have a collective of worship leaders and ensemble of musicians who are based at a 'home church' and undertake a tour. I think they may be doing one later this year that takes in a few UK dates - google them to find the relevant site. There is also a decent video of Kim sharing/teaching her principles of leading worship. She seems a great role model for women who are seeking to develop their singing/leading gifts.
"You Won't Relent" was actually written by Misty Edwards - not Jesus Culture... Brian and Jenn Johnson (also from Bethel Church) write some amazing worship music too. Check them out. http://www.brianandjennjohnson.com/
They had a UK tour a few months ago. I headed to their southampton event which was at the same place where Worship Central holds it's tour. They are very good Simon, your post just acquainted me with their cover of "See His Love" which is amazing!!! I have to say though, they are more commercial than I would like and their gig too was more of a gig than a worship session... that said they have a big heart for Jesus and that can't be misplaced :-)
I've been really loving their stuff. We've started doing their version of 'Holding Nothing Back' as we all love the riff... feels really massive! They're a fantastic bunch of worshippers, very passionate.
I went to their conference last year in Leicester and was blown away! I think the Spirit is really on them at the moment. I got to hang out with Chris Quilala and the guys in the band - great bunch!!! All of their albums are good... I recommend any of them!
Here at Woodlands Church in Bristol we do a lot of Jesus Culture stuff. It's some of the most passionate, heartfelt stuff I think I've ever heard. For anyone who's interested - Bill Johnson, the senior pastor of Bethel Church, is coming to speak at a healing conference with Mark Stibbe in Bristol in May. Check out -- http://www.release2010.org/ Should be amazing!
cant say i know a lot about jesus culture, but from what ive seen the music is awesome and the songs are superb! their version of holding nothing back is fantastic. as for whether the spirit is really on them i dont really know how to judge that? i did hear a talk kim walker did online that i respectfully disagreed with tho. she was saying they dont sing lament songs in their church, and have even changed some of the words of songs like rain down to make them more positive. Gav.
I've heard a lot of Jesus Culture on Youtube and find them to be very spirit led :) I totally fell in love with them :)
