I just wanted to know what or who people are inspire by. Yes by rights we could all answer I am inspired by God, but how, where, and what do you do to facilitate this?

I am inspired by creation as you can probably tell from at least one of my songs on the songwriters clinic forum, but this isn't just about songwriting it could be about preparing a set list or praying, where do you go for inspration?

All sorts of things - I keep my eyes and ears open as part of my ongoing prayers for God to speak, guide and inspire me.

For example, I'm aiming to get my worship set for Sunday morning together fairly soon now. Yesterday morning I took some macro photos of my keys, for the sake of developing my photographic skills and today, as I've been looking at them again, I'm wondering if keys and unlocking might not be an area God is calling me to ponder... it would certainly fit with the last couple of Sunday morning services but I'm feeling pulled towards it without just trying to replicate more of the same in my own strength.

My inspiration lately has mostly been discovering God. I finally put together the fact that the only way to understand an infinite eternal God is to be on a path towards him. No matter how tall you are, you wouldn't really be any closer than me to the moon, unless you were on a rocketship on a path towards the moon. Once we get on God's path (your heart is right), facts all of a sudden mean nothing, and anything new or even old, that you hear completely expands your mindset on who God is. Understanding that we can actually figure out God gives an empowerment to explode in your love of God, and that can't come through knowledge because we'll never know enough, but with our hearts set on God, we fall right in place with all of God's plans, and all of a sudden everything God says becomes so much bigger, and makes so much more sense to us.

I get inspired by my wife who faithfully worships God by doing an amazing job looking after our 2 yr old son and supporting me as I serve the church. She is amazing and also a very good singer ;)

I am inspired by hearing stories from other people living out their testimony. Fellow musicians who persevere and are faithful, no matter what they face...people who minister through their day-jobs, family members who set the standards and encourage you.

Also beautiful, simple places where you can just take in creation and sit with God's art before you: my faves are beaches and hilltops. The happiest moment of this year was when I was sitting on a beach at night with my guitar and just singing songs of worship out to the waves as the stars came out: was ecstatic :oD

Phew - just watched the Horizon programme "What time is it?"
