Hey guys, I just stumbled across this website/forum by accident, so this is my first post! This site is awesome and I have presented the Worship Central Course to our praise and worship leader where I am the bass player. I can't wait to get started!
My question today is regarding inexpensive synth programs/apps that can be installed and used on the iPad, then converted to a keyboard via MIDI. Our keyboard player has an iPad and we've looked into Ableton Live/Omnisphere, etc., but they run between $400-$500 (American).
Are you guys aware of any inexpensive or free programs that we can use? Basic strings and pads on the keyboard we have are quite subpar.
Thanks so much and i look forward to your responses!!

Have you heard of SampleWiz? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irpj9HdkiH0
It's an iPad app made by an amazing keyboardist called Jordan Rudess. It can do loads of crazy things, but the basic sounds seem really good. They're mainly lead/solo sounds orientated but there are pad/choir/string sounds as well. I think it's pretty cheap as well!
Hope that helps! Paddy
