Next week we are leading a family service about Gideon. My wife and I wrote this song as we could not find any songs about Gideon. We wanted it to be an all age song without being too childish. We are a moderately conservative church which insists on quite a bit of biblical content in songs. What do you think? The recording is pretty poor but I think you can get the gist.

Can you post up the lyrics? Aways makes it easier to comment.
I like the overall feel of this and it's a good theme for a song. But I think Matt's right that the jump from Gideon to Jesus is a bit abrupt. However, if it's a one off song for a specific service maybe that's not too important. I'd also agree that the lyrics feel rushed which makes it harder to sing along to.

If you are shooting for a folk sound, you nailed it. I like the connection between God showing His victory through Gideon, and showing His victory through Christ. I would just work lyrically to make the transition more fluid. It seemed like one line was Gideon and the next was Jesus.
Ideas:
1. Maybe have the first chorus stick with the Gideon theme.
2. Perhaps the 1st verse is Gideon, the second could be a second example (Daniel, David, whatever), then the 3rd verse to Jesus.
3. Seemed like a lot of lyrics coming at me really fast. That may make it difficult to sing with. Maybe explore simplifying or slowing down.
All and all nice work.
