How have you changed since you began worshipping God?

If the world is to change, surely it must be by one person at a time. Not that it's beyond God to lift up an entire continent and turn it round to face Him and live for Him, but mostly I think global transformation happens over time and by the multiplication of the choices that individuals make. Often on Sundays, a particular priest of ours will "pray for peace - peace in our hearts, peace in our homes, peace in our communities and peace in our world". That order is interesting - it must start from within and then flow out. So let's reflect on how worshipping God has transformed me as an individual... ...if we're frustrated at the lack of change in our communities, could it be because we haven't allowed ourselves to be changed during our walk with God?

I wondered if newer members cared to reflect on this old thread: ...does your worship of God change you at all? ...is the transformation purely on a spiritual level or will there always be some noticeable practical difference in your life when we encounter God and He equips us?

good question larry maybe its better for other people to judge how we changed than ourselves. hopefully ive become more like Jesus each day! i think we should be more loving and forgiving with others. the word 'generous' applies here. i think i should pray more! God bless, gav.
I agree with Gav that transformation is usually far more noticeable to those around us than it is to ourselves. That said, I remember that when I became a Christian I noticed almost immediately what I can best describe as a 'greater sense of conscience'. Obviously I know now that it was down to the Holy Spirit and His indwelling in me. Also, I sometimes think back to how I used to be - eg. how I used to react in certain situations - and, comparing that to how I am now, I can definitely notice that I'm being transformed from glory to glory, for which I praise God. I do pray earnestly, however, that I never become complacent in this as that would be dangerous territory indeed!

Interesting replies - prayers all around for ppl to continue being tranformed! The forum headline just made me think whether we've got the emphasis right in our worship transforming the world around us or first of all transforming us and then through us, the world. Should our worship really be the boiler room for a "little heaven while we're here on earth" or an anticipation of the real deal which is another thing altogether?

I first felt the Holy Spirit in worship and it made me realize that nothing compared to the feeling of meeting him.

A few years from that first time and I'm still looking for new opportunities to meet with God.

I'll spend time worshiping and dreaming of leading people in worship to see where God wants me to go with worship sets. I'll also worship on my electric to find new ways of playing and build up my technique with him as all I want to do is worship him with my instruments :)

It's truly life changing.

I remember getting a call to worship at soul survivor and visions of leading a youth group at my church on the regular rota, its just the best thing that's ever happened to me!

My goal for now is to get others to see just how life changing worship can be. If I didn't run to God, if i didn't seek him, none of these things mentioned above would have ever happened.
