Holy, Holy, Holy (For the middle of communion liturgy)

I wrote this a while back to go into a section of the Church of England communion liturgy - the response which goes:

Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.

My vicar and I thought you could sing that part, and after using all the other "Holy" songs I came up with this and it has been working really well. It is really powerful and as the song is really simple )it can be done really rocky or chilled and intimate. It really brings a great atmostphere to our communion services when we carry on with the liturgy afterwards.

If you're not in the C of E then I guess you could still use it elsewhere, we've used it in a general worship time as well. Sounds great rocked up and with a massive band BAM BAM BAM - you'll get it!

Any, chords below.

hey again mate
Really like this too, you write great songs man.

Like the simplicity of this, can see it serving a congregation well.
Only thing that stood out for me, was the end of the chorus. You say we join with heavens song singing hosanna the Kingdom has come - are they singing that (I don't know the answer tbh)

Would it make more sense to use like a higher melody version of the holy holy holy or the whole verse? A bit like ben c's hallelujah? (but with a higher melody rather than octave jump)?

so it's 'And we join heaven's song, singing Holy Holy Holy etc...?
Just a thought anyway Hope that makes some sort of sense!

Hey Steve,

Not heard this one before. I think there is a real majestic/holy/reverent quality to the songs you write. I really like this one. Just wondering, in regards to "For your glory resides in that place" what 'that' place was as it isn't explained?

Eoghan Heaslip pulled me up on using 'in this holy moment...' in a song as I hadn't explained what it meant, what the holy moment was, and he said it seemed to suggest that one moment was more holy than another.

Wonder whether it is worth unpacking it a bit?

Again, great recording. We should try and write a killer tune at NW this year!

Hi Nick! You did an awesome job of playing keys on this one without hearing it! Cast your mind back! I think it was Samuel's baptism service?

I was thinking because it is HEAVEN's choir that the "that place" would be Heaven? Make sense?

Cheers bud!

Chris - Thanks bud - not sure I write great songs - I only share the good ones! ;) Thanks for feedback but I can't really change this one as I've been using it for a couple of years now! It's still going really well so I guess it works.

Looking forward to seeing you both at New Wine! It's gonna be a blast!

personally i think the word hosanna line has been a little overused. how about (singing hallelujah for your kingdom has come.) i think it would flow so much better.
