Hi Folks,
This is a song I wrote just over 3 weeks ago, and it's really blessing my church. I'm posting it here just in case it blesses anyone else. It's not the greatest recording, but it's a simple song, and doesn't really need anything fancy anyway.
It's in B (Capo 4 G)
Thanks and God Bless.
Duncan
Verse
He sings over you songs of hope.
He sings over you songs of joy.
You mean the world to Him.
You are precious, you're beautiful.
Chorus
He rejoices over you with singing
He rejoices over you with dancing
He longs to hear your voice
to share a quiet time
Just turn your face to Him and shine
Bridge
Open up our ears so we can hear Your song
Open up our eyes so we can see Your dance
Open up our ears so we can hear heaven's hallelujah
Heal our hearts so we can love like You

Thanks Duncan. As you say. it's a simple song with a lovely intimacy about it and a beautiful sense of positivity. Definitely reinforces the message of God's warm love and grace towards us which is always welcome and true.
Melodically the song risks becoming a bit repetitive since you have placed the melody at the start of both the verse and the chorus in the exactly the same range/pitch. Also I felt it jarred slightly having a sudden burst of volume when singing in the chorus "to share a quiet time" - the dynamic didn't seem to match the lyric.

Yeah, I have to say, when I'm singing it in a meeting, I don't tend to do the volume burst on the chorus, and I agree, it doesn't macth the lyric. This was recorded just a week after writing, I'm still learning how to sing it really.
To be honest, the structure is a bit funny. Although I've called it verse and chorus they aren't really. iIt's interchangeable. In ministry times the task is to be as unobtrusive as possible, so not changing anything dramatically works for those times.
It's more of a sing over the congregation type of song. (Based on Zeph 3:17)
Thanks for the feed back.
