sorry to hear that,

can you elaborate a bit michael, how long has it been?

how does God normally speak to you, ie scripture? sermons? through worship songs?

what are you reading at the mo?

God bless,
Gav.

A month I think. Normally He speaks through music, and It's improving since i got Hillsongs "A Beautiful Exchange" Powerful album haha.
At the moment I'm reading "Run Baby Run" by Nicky Cruz

Is it your experience that God only seems to speak through certain albums and particular pieces of music, Michael?

does God not speak to you in other ways than music?

I find God speaks to me through films quite a lot. what about you michael?

have you seen the latest narnia film for example?

as for music, i would recommend buying steve parsons latest album, check it out on www.steveparsons.net
there are some brilliant songs on there.

also martyn joseph and johnny cash have written some brilliant lyrics which speak of God in original ways.

God bless,

What about God speaking through the Bible? Dreams? Friends? Church leadership? Nature? Everyday life? Jeremiah 33:3.

God speaks to me through more than just music sorry

He speaks through Creation, Dreams, Pictures often aswell. As for the bible I really need to get better at that one If I'm honest. After praying about this I've come to see that He is there, He's always there and it is me who was not listening Properly. I do feel rather stupid now haha

Don't feel too stupid:) There are times when God speaks so loudly that it's hard to ignore and we have mountain top experiences that can make it seem like God's not there if he isn't speaking quite so loudly. I think God teaches us to trust him in those times. When we can't seem to hear or feel him, we have to rely on our belief that God is who he says he is and that he will never leave us or forsake us. True faith is tested. Not that God is necessarily testing you, but I think any relationship is made stronger when it survives the tough times. Your faith in God will be that much more sure if you come through a desert/wilderness time still trusting him and you can be confident that he'll never give you more than you can bear. So keep trusting and pressing in. We all go through dry times.

If you're interested in reading something about this you could check out St. John of the Cross's "Dark Night of the Soul." I only read excerpts from it but it is an interesting read.

There are often periods like this. It seems to be the longer you walk with the Lord the more likely.

A term from the past is "the dark night of the soul" and is explored in a number of places. Celebration of discipline by Richard Foster explains it a little.

I say this as I would not see this as a punishment or alike rather the norm. Albeit something not often spoken of these days. Mother Teresa wrote of her "dark night" that lasted a very long time but lifted in her final years.

The times between mountain top experiences in scripture and what seems to be the Christian life now are very different. I find the silence and the meditation on scripture another part of the walk rather than an absence.

Get hold of someone wise in your church, probably someone of a good number of years with the Lord. There is encouragement to be had.
