Hey

I play guitar, I really hate playing the 'F' Chord my teacher keeps saying practicing it will get better. But I recently found a new way of playing the 'F' Chord, Its very similar to the 'C' Chord.

Does anyone know anyother way I can play the 'B' Chord?

Hey Philip! I'll share just a couple of quick things that have helped me. If playing the difficult keys of "C" or "F" you can capo the first fret. The are a few ways to play "B" but they don't always work with every key, I'd recommend doing a "Google" search for "Chord Finder" and take a look at some of the available chord finding tools, they are normally free and you can play around with different variations until you find something that works best for you!

Hey phil i know a great b that i love and always use it works the majority of the time
it is just and E except you place a base note B on the 7th fret low E string. and then an E chord as if the 7th fret was the top of your guitar.

Starting at the 7th fret

Hi

check out the chords for songs such as Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. It uses a Bsus which I always use with songs in the key of E. Its real easy to move to C#m7, A etc and has a nice open sound. It streches over three frets but is the best alternative to using the full B. It doesnt work all the time but thats where capos come in.

just put a kappo on fret 4 and play the G shape, then its a B!!!

praise God for the kappo!

mate even though the cappo helps, and trick chords are easy...keep practicing...and getting them right. It pays off in the long run.

I totally agree with Gavin Ball the worship leader key is G

The Problem is there are some songs that I play that if I use the cappo it makes it go higher.

Some songs need chords in a normal tuning and no cappo some songs.

I can't stop in the middle of a chorus and put a cappo on. It will sound bad with a 5 sec break just to put a capo on LOL.

yeh youre right phil i hear what youre saying. there are ways of playing a song with a B chord in it on fret 4 for the whole song, but in the long run its easier to just practice the bar chord of B. it will come with time. believe me i thought i would never be able to play bar F or bar B chords but after a (long) while it just clicked. dont give up it will come.

Hi Phil,

I'd agree with some of the guys above. If you want to become a good guitarist, keep practising the F and B until you can nail them. What you want is eventually to be able to play all the chords in a variety of positions up and down fretboard.

Playing skillfully is one of the biblical requirements of worship leader, and playing skillfully means being dedicated and putting in hours (and hours) of practice.

While it is so tempting to put a capo on 4 and stick with a G shape, learning and practicing bar chords is such an important thing to do. Lots of people start playing guitar and never learn bar chords, and then end up never progressing because you're so limited without them.
