God of Grace - complete song

Hi! Screwed up the first upload of this one - didn't get all the song there, so here is original message and (hopefully) the complete song this time (and thanks for the feedback so far):- Hi everyone! After some very useful feedback on "Oh Lord, You are Worthy", thought I'd see if a few of you would indulge me with some criticism of this one too. We've used it at church a few times, and it seemed to go down OK with our worshippers, and I've had some feedback from some christian friends from other churches. They are all too polite though, so you're the next phase! Feel free to comment on any aspect, but one particular thing I can't decide whether I am happy with or not is the use of rhyming couplets throughout. Is it simple and effective, or is it just plain cheesy?? One day I think - yeah, that'll do nicely, the next day - oh dear, what have I done, swallowed a kids nursery rhyme book? Anyway, feedback would be appreciated. The song looks at God's grace, and the mystery of why He loves us so much. Then goes on to our response to that grace and His greatness, finishing up with some excellent responsive lyrics (stolen from Frances Ridley Havergal, 1874), also in rhyming couplets, oddly enough! Lyrics: You’re the God of grace; I can turn to You In the quiet place that You take me to. Open up my eyes; open up my heart Help me realise there’s a brand new start Every time I kneel, every time I weep You are there to heal; set me on my feet.. And Your word of grace I’m relying on Says that every trace of my sin is gone; That the work is done; that You’ve set me free That You see Your Son when you look at me; I am mystified; I can never see Why the Saviour died for the likes of me. And I love You You’re creation’s voice that the angels heard, You’re the Lord of hosts; the Living Word, Bringing life from dust, bringing life from death. Giving life to us by Your Spirit’s breath. You’re the King of hearts, the Lord of minds, From the very start to the end of time. So with all our might - every word and deed - We will shine Your light on a world in need. Because we love you Yes we love you Take my life and let it be consecrated Lord to Thee Take my moments take my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise. Take my silver take my gold, not a mite would I withhold. Take my love my Lord I pour at Thy feet its’ treasure store Ta everyone. God bless Rog

It look's like you don't have Adobe Flash Player installed. Get it now.

Roger, This is awesome! The piano in the recording is beautiful. I don't have time to look over the lyrics just now, but musically its fresh, very very well put together and I really like it! Well done mate, hopefully i'll post again later when i've looked at the lyrics. Matt
this is good I love the synth in the backround of the first verse, very groovey :) like matt said its refreshing easy listening Weldone
i love it! the only thing i would ammend is how you change from singing as a 'I' pespective throughout the whole song to verse 3 where you sing from a 'we' perspective then switch back to 'I' for the last verse. why not stick to singing it all from an 'I' pespective? God bless, gav.
great song, really like
Hi all Lots of useful comments ta. I'll stick to "I" throughout, and Sim has sent me an awesome idea for a chorus too, bless him, which I intend to use. Hey Matt - thanks for the comment on the piano! Ironic thing is, I can't play a note on keys! The whole piano part was put into Apple Logic with the use of my mouse and a bit of clicky-forefinger-action (as were the drums, strings bass and lead guitar) I'll find a proper band one day! Acoustic guitar and vocals are genuine, honest. Thanks all God bless Rog
