Hey Everyone, This is a song called "Given To Your Name". Let me know what you think? Verse 1 According to Your plan, God, You have redeemed us By taking on our sin through the blood of Jesus He is our defense, He became our ransom We join now with the song, Your anthem Chorus All glory and power and strength This is the refrain of the song of Your saints All blessing and honor and praise Be given to Your name, be given to Your name Verse 2 Spirit shine Your light on those who sit in darkness Reveal the mystery of Your eternal purpose That one day all will join in singing You this chorus Blessed be the name, that saves us Chorus: Bridge Oh heart, burn brightly Oh soul, be stirred Oh lips, sing to Heaven Oh song of praise be heard Chorus: 2x TR

Hi Travis! Firstly - excellent production and vocals, and a nicely put together song! I love it. I only have one minor observation, and it's just one of those "personal preference" things. I find it difficult to sing lyrics about singing songs! I don't know why - maybe it's just me. (Worse still are lyrics about writing songs, which is NOT a criticism of this song. My all time worst lyric is Spandau Ballet - "True" which says "why do I find it hard to write the next line?". Wish they hadn't - ruined a good song!) Anyway, yours is WAY less of a problem than that! The lines "we join now with your song ......." and "this is the refrain ....." etc. just grated a little with me. Blame Spandau ballet - they coloured my judgement forever. I've already gone on too long about it! It's a minor point in a great song, well produced. God bless you Travis Rog PS - great name - we don't get many Travis's over here on our tiny island. PPS - what sort of recording set up have you got, so I can drool? ..... and are all the instruments "live"?
hi travis, superb recording again nice work. i like the words on the whole, some of the lines remind me a bit of yoda (sorry folks who've heard me say that a million times before!) like this one, 'according to your plan you have redeemed us' rather than you have redeemed us according to your plan. and the bridge is a bit backwards lyrically aswell. but its my personal preference more than anything. ps just an observation (not meaning to be rude!) but this site is mainly aimed at songs people are working on and can make amendments to, hence why its a 'clinic'. this is a terrific song but it seems like its been expensively produced already, and would be hard to change. do you have any recordings of songs youre working on that are in there earlier stages? keep writing you have tremendous God given gifts. God bless, gav.
Hi again Travis Just been on Itunes and bought your album. Very inspiring. God bless Rog
Wow. Excellent sound. I don't suppose that was recorded in your bedroom with a dictaphone, was it?? :-) Thanks. Very solid. I can only really think of one or two really trivial things. By the time it got to the bridge I think I was ready then for bringing it down to a simpler but still intense (ie different!) vibe. But THEN you did indeed do so in the chorus so maybe that would be fine for most folks. This could be complete nonsense but ... I tend to think of Jesus (the Word) as the Light shining in the darkness (John 1:1-5) rather than the Spirit shining HIS light. So I found that bouncing around in my head for a bit. Could anyone point me in the direction of a passage referring to the light of the Spirit in this way? Maybe you indeed were referring to Christ anyway, in a Trinitarian sense? Blessings. Mart
Great song there Travis! Love the dymanics of it! Do you use this in Church? sounds like an album type song thingy! Just an observation (not that my opionion counts that much I'm only a guitarist) Kindest regards, Jonathan
Hey Jonathan, To answer your question, yes we do this song in church. The response has been awesome to see. TR

Pretty much agree with everyone else, though I'm not in quite the same camp as Roger "sorry" with the writing thing, although I fully see your point, but it iis as you allude, a matter of taste. I too, wondered how it was produced. The song I put up, with no comment yet, "PSALM 63" was done totally on my Yamaha Keyboard, apart from the Voice, so I naturally wondered how Travis got this sound. I suspect it was Studio Based, particularly as an Album exists. Do Tell Travis. Otherwise, a great song and I could imagine it in the Church with many praising God. Well done. Robert
