Everything Good (Psalm 16)

This is a rough version - I want some feedback before I add vocal harmonies, brass etc.. I also need to replace the dodgy electric guitar with an acoustic. I wanted to do a happy praise song that is easy to pick up as there aren't enough of them IMO. I also wanted to do a setting of Psalm 16 as it means a lot to me and expresses how I often feel. Everything good comes from You Lord. All that I need is in Your hand. You put my feet on the pathway. Nothing I desire compares with You. You give me joy in the morning, You speak to my heart at night. Your love is always before me. With you in my life I will not be shaken. Chorus Lord, You provide for my future, My present is in Your hands. All of the church is my fam'ly. My spirit is glad and my heart rejoices. Chorus Lord, keep me safe for in You I find refuge. (x4) Chorus Opinions please - don't hold back!

Hi Ian, I really like the upbeat feel, I can imagine it working well in a family worship setting I also really like how the melody is crafted for the verses with a bit more of a straight melody for the chorus. One thought I had is would it make more sense to swap the lyrics round in the first two line of the second verse? So it would be... 'Lord You provide for my present, My future is in Your hands? Just a thought! Good work P.s, I like the vocalists voice too.
I also like it! Sounds like you really got what you were aiming for. Really, it is just a solid song. One thing I thought of was "you put my feet on the pathway" is a tad ambiguous. I don't think people are so silly as to think, in the context of the song, that the line means something bad or negative, but you may want to consider putting something like "you put my feet on the good way" or "you set my feet on the right way" or something like that. Really good!

Thanks Chris and Marc. Good points from both of you that I will definitely think about. I will pass on to my daughter that you like her voice Chris!
