Consumer or consumed?

A reflection to share:

Consume = to be taken up with.
Consumer = one who devours, spends wastefully, uses up.
Consumed = one who is absorbed, engrossed.

"What's in it for me?" vs. "Take all of me"

How does my worship of God allow Him to consume me, so that I am absorbed into Him and He into me?
Does our worship of God ever demand things of Him without anything offered in return?
Am I simply acquiring gifts and ticking off experiences?
What form does my cross really take - have I truly taken it up in following Him?

Lord Jesus, I now offer you back everything you've ever given me. Take away the things I no longer need and leave me only with You.
Have my life completely in your hands and do with it what you will, not what I would have. I ask nothing more from you, but that you would accept me totally, fully use me and spend me entirely at your pleasure for your sake and the will of the Father.
Change me o God from a consumer into someone consumed entirely by You.
Turn my eyes from the things of God - to you, my God, instead.

May I become what I worship, Amen.

Christus.
