Thanks very much, Ian. You certainly scoped the thing.
I would be interested in sending stuff to publishers but am a bit foggy about how I might go about it. I have no experience of doing this and I don't read music. Would there be any chance that I could have a brief word with you some time about it? If that would be feasible, maybe you could let me know. My email address is johnpetertwomey@yahoo.com.
Hi John,
If you follow the link above you get links to lots of different publishers. Some don't accept unsolicited publications but those that do give advice on their sites about what they are looking for (look for 'music submissions') as it is in their interests to be clear about what they want and how they want it presented.

I like this John - it is very competently written with nice harmonies and easy to pick up. I'm a sucker from chromatically descending bass lines! I also like the second vocal harmony very much. I can see it being used liturgically. The style is quite old fashioned but I don't have a problem with that - my personal hobby horse is that much of professional worship music is so uniformly bland. I hope you have success with this. If you do a lot of this type of writing, try sending some stuff to publishers. The American ones give you the quickest response and are probably more in tune with your style. Have a look on http://www.cmpamusic.org/html/main.isx for some potential firms.
