After Leading Worship?
How do you relax/chill after leading worship or playing in church? I just got back from leading worship at my home church, and feel a bit drained. I thinks it's great to know that God wants us to rest, rest in his arms, so rest is what i'm going to do!

Hey Tom, Great question mate...and a really important issue, as in those moments you often feel so drained that you can feel quite distant from God whether the evening has gone well or not. I find that a number of things help me out depending on my mood and how i feel. Sometimes I really just need to hang out with people and be surrounded by my friends, either at someone's house or in the pub. At other times, I need to go home and just spend more time with God
great answer! keep them coming!

Tom, For me there is nothing better than coming home and watching football (yes, I actually mean soccer!). Especially when it is two mid-table sides with nothing on the line (Newcastle, Rovers, etc). I'm asleep in just minutes! With love and a game in hand, benmead (Man United supporter!)
I'm a Man United supporter to! what a great way to chill!

For me, I come home, eat a good homecooked meal, then lie down on the sofa and sleep. Then, if I'm not involved, I head down to the evening service to seek God in a relaxed fashion.
If it has been a very draining service I find that sitting down with a guitar or bass and turning back to worship, either with existing songs, making new ones up or even just instrumental improvising, is wonderfully refreshing. Not least, it reminds me that it is not the worship of our wonderful God that is draining but just all the other things we've made it. I'm a big fan of going home to a nice sunday lunch, I stick a dvd on for the kids while they rest on the sofa and then I read comic books. (yes, I know, you're probably thinking one of two things, either: 1 - that's not very holy, surely you should relax by more worship or reading the bible, or 2 - you're still reading comic books and you're old enough to have kids?!?!?) Alternatively, being a police officer by trade, I go home, have a quick lunch, iron a shirt and go to work! (I prefer the sundays when I'm not working!!!) Alex
I normally go home after the meeting and have one of my mum's lovely Sunday lunches! Nothing more satisfying than good food when you're tired :D After I might go out for a nice walk if the weather's good, or just stay home and relax.
After leading worship on Sundays, the only thing I want to do is go home with my husband and eat lunch while watching TV. It's the only way I can really turn my brain off and just chill out. Sometimes I'm still so wired after church that I can't even take a nap! If that's the case, I'll go for a walk. http://www.kcctriad.com

I find that a punch bag helps..... nah in all seriousness, after our main evening service I like to go straight home spend some time with my wife and our best mates Jo and Al White (that's Jo as in a girl may I add!) which usually ends up with a pint and a Chicken Tika Nann (which garlic mayo & chilli sauce) whilst watching match of the day 2!
