Hello all,
I've been working on a song and really could use some feedback. It's not meant to be a congregational song at this point so bear that in mind. It's really kind of a testimony song. I've blogged about the writing process a bit at my blog http://singingoversilence.wordpress.com if you'd like a little background info. However, even first impressions on the emotion and such of the song would be helpful. What does the song communicate to you etc.
Thanks for your help in advance. The lyrics are below
Absolution- words and music by Jonathan Althoff
Verse 1
Wonderful, marvelous, infinite grace of God
You took on my sin and you washed it away in Your blood
Chorus
O Absolution washed over me
and all my illusions crumbled down
I became undone by Your love
Unconditioned love
Verse 2
Wonderful, marvelous, infinite grace of God
You made deliberate sinners daughters and sons (chorus)

I think it's a solid song. I wouldn't sell it too short as far as congregational use. I think it would actually work well. I think you have a really singable melody, a good way of presenting the concepts, it flows nicely. Quite simply a winner in my humble opinion.
Not everyone knows what Absolution means, but I think you've done a good job making it the focus of the song. So you're kind of defining it in the verses and chorus, that gets people thinking and involved in the song on an intellectual level which is also quite nice.
Keep up the good work!
