Hey everyone Recently I was trying to write a worship song, This is gonna be my first time in worship song writing. I didn't want it to be just a normal worship song that we sing on Sunday. I want it to be like a prayer this year. If you get what I mean a song that everyone can sing and learn from it and get inspired. Cause im almost 15 yrs old in December I want to write a Worship song that I could thank God for what He has done. I got heaps of Great Lyrics but the problem is I can't come up with any melody to it. I sit with my guitar playing it around trying adding my capo but nothing really comes. I've tried listening to my favourite artist to get some cool inspritation out of it like Hillsong United, Brenton Brown, Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, Tim Hughes etc. I could sit down and get my Bible and write heaps of lyrics to a song but not get any music into it. Cause im almost 15 yrs old in a few months time I want to write my first worship song. But the most important thing is God. God is Love. I could write amazing songs but without Love its nothing but a loud noise. In Christ Phil |

hi phil,
God bless you mate, songwriting is hard! i would encourage you to be patient and wait. good songs almost always take time. you are also very young so it might take a bit longer before the songs become finished products but thats ok. keep trusting in God and practicing.
reading books about songwriting will help also.

here are some things that could help you with the melody thing. TRy playing around with different chords, variations dive into a chord book with most worship songs we get caught up in using boring old normal chords. Melodys (from my experience) aren't things that you can just force into existence (ANNOYINGLY!) most of the time they will just pop into your head at the most inconvenient time.

I agree sometimes when its just a normal day when your walking down the street then suddenly something really good pops up and you forget it when you get home.
About 2 months ago my church sang a new song called "God of Hope" and It has great music. Unfortunately I can't find the song anywhere.
Have you heard of it? cause I really wanna get hold of the chords and play and sing it.
The Chorus goes something like -
'God of Hope, God of Futures
You can take the broken heart and make it sing
God of Life, New Tomorrows'
That's all I can remember unfortantely.
could you ask whoever sang it at your church where they got it from?
Gav
Yeah, I will do when I see them again on Sunday, But i was just wondering have anyone here heard of it.
