Anyone else a bit concerned that this section only has two posts, when its about our worship changing the world...
maybe we need some teaching on this, Tim / Al would it be worth asking Mike P to share some thoughts on this?
Blessings.

Absolutely mate,
Its a massive concern for me and any teaching that could open us up to each other and allow us to be transformed by God would be very welcome on my part.
Hope you're well

I third this! there is only 20 different topics in the Encounter God section. Teaching on this would be great!
I agree wholeheartedly. I think it's a shame that we have so many posts going on in the songwriting section (which is great) but so few here, and in the other theological discussions. The theology is just as important as the songs.
Very true.
I think the popularity of certain threads simply reflects the makeup of members (the same way a poll in the street merely represents whoever has been chosen) but the same thought occurred to me too.
It's great that so many people want to develop a talent for songwriting for God's glory but we can't lose sight of the bigger picture of the purpose of our worship (musical or otherwise).
How can we love God without loving our neighbour?
Will our worship ever please God if we leave the building and harden our hearts again, unchanged and uninspired to make a simple difference to the world we live in?

Great post.
I think having been at The Stand earlier in the month, my awareness of the need for us to live as God's agents of transformation in the world became a clearer reality. We are called yes to love, honour and worship God, but also to love those around us. Not that I have got it all sorted (far from it), but I think in some ways that if we actually step up and share something of our encounters with God, it could transform the lives of those around us. How often we are hindered by our own circumstances/preconcieved ideas of what God wants to do?! I've been studying Hebrews 12:1-4 lately and I guess that as we cast off those things that hinder us and press on in God through prayer, worship, learning from others, serving others etc. we will see a transformation in our own lives and the lives of those we come into contact with. I think that we are to be (to qute the tag line of a Christian organistaion) Souled Out - A Passionate People, Faithfully Serving The King Of Kings!
Hopefully that makes some sense, probably shouldn't post when so tired. hehe!

Agreed... one other consideration is that this is - for the most part - a dedicated worshippers & worship leaders forum, who are pretty much all musos. There are other theology forums around if you want to discuss other aspects of theology extensively, although it's nice to have it linked in here a bit.
For example, for most of my technical questions about guitar stuff & PA, i'll go to another more specialist forum for that as I wouldn't expect guitar tech & sound engineering to be covered in extensive detail here... although I appreciate there are a couple of knowledgeable guys around.

Good thoughts on the really technical stuff, Joe, but surely we ought to be developing a wider field of popular topics that aren't just restricted largely to songwriting? What is worship songwriting if it doesn't have good theology behind it? And I'm not just talking about a theology that makes sure we have 'sound' lyrics, but a theology that means we live our lives out in a radical way? Simply being "musos" isn't good enough, is it?
Please forgive me if this sounds like I'm being a grumpy old git, but there's a bit of me that's quite pleased the People's Podcast month of songwriting submissions is over. New songs are great and the songwriting competition is a fantatsic idea, but there was almost no discussion on anything else here for a month! I do love discussing the nitty gritty of life and the faith and how worship impacts both.

I agree... I think my point was that there's more than one way to skin a cat, so I wasn't getting too worried by it all!
