Live Album

13 Dec 2008

I'm currently in Atlanta, Georgia, spending a few days with Nathan Nockels working on my new live album. Recorded last September at Shepherds Bush Empire, London - it's great to listen to the tracks and hear how it's all shaping up. We're nearly there on it.

Nathan has been fantastic tidying up little bits - editing tracks, tuning up vocals, repairing the odd mistake. I'm really happy with how it's sounding. We also start work on editing the DVD pretty soon. I'm excited to see some of the footage. Anyway it's been a great few days. Hope to be able to share more with you all soon. Thanks, Tim

Mate, just to say I found that auto tune software you were asking about online. I'll send you the link. JOKE!!! Let me know when you get onto the Uke overdubs ;-)
Hey Tim, really looking forward to the album! Hope to see you again in Januari! Enjoy! Janno
That's great, I love those studio created live albums! If at first you don't succeed.... Any idea on the track listing? John T.
Looking forward to the new stuff. Hey, also have a question for you. I'm just getting started using loops at my church. I like the sound of the one you use on All Over The World. Is that a loop you purchased somewhere, or can you have someone explain how you got that sound? I can hear the filter sweep, but can't seem to recreate the loop exactly. Thanks!
Hey tim, sounds great! just wondering, how much overdubs are you doing? like 100% or are you just tiding up?
We're trying to keep really faithful to the original material. Not wanting to completely re-do everything - as then suddenly it's not really a live album. As I mentioned with Nathan editing drum, bass or electric tracks - he can edit out a little mistake or a bit of bad tuning. None of these parts have been over-dubbed. With my vocals we'll keep some of the live stuff and then over-dub bits that weren't so - let's say - tuneful! Even then we'd try and match what I'd sang before - keeping the live feel - rather than spending hours on each vocal like you would in a studio. Also Troy - I think All over the world is Matt Redman. And Al - regarding the Uke - as I keep saying - don't call us, we'll call you! Tim

Sounds good Tim - pray the work goes well, enjoy Atlanta and the warmer climate, although you might not see much of it in studio land. Look forward to hearing the CD and watching the DVD. all the best Clive Check out some more of my music at www.myspace.com/themysterytent

Hey Tim. I hope you are enjoy Atlanta and seeing friends there as well as doing the album. Glad you like the sound. I'm sure you just can't stop listening to Al's 'killer' Uke solo. Fly to Charleston (45mins) and come and see us if you get bored with all that over dubing! Maybe see you in January before I head back this side of the pond again. Cheers, Calum
