Tour // Edinburgh
Day three and we had an incredible night in Edinburgh, with a totally packed out event. It was amazing to be back in Edinburgh with Worship Central, as my family are from here and I spent four years studying in the city.
We got into town early and I had a coffee with an old friend before heading to the venue. We were hosted by a great church called Morningside Baptist Church and it was fun to connect with their team. We had a good soundcheck, worked hard on running a few songs in particular that we needed to work on - the tours been great for us creatively as we're being forced to really hone and refine the songs we're using. We've been working off quite a small playlist and it means we're able to really nail the arrangements, which in turn allows us to be more spontaneous. It's funny how sometimes a really strong foundation musically means you're that much more ready to go off the beaten path if needed. The evening was fantastic - there was a real buzz as all the tickets to the event had sold out a few days previously, and it was an amazing gathering of worship teams from across all the churches in Edinburgh and around the place. It was encouraging to see so many different churches represents, from the Free Church to the Catholics, traditional to fresh expressions, and the evening was the most passionate and powerful we've seen yet. As I write we're on the way to the ferry for Belfast. It's about 1am and we're grabbing what sleep we can on the bus before taking the bus on the ferry at 7.30am! Tomorrow we do the last event of this leg of the tour in Belfast, before heading back to be in London to lead at church all day Sunday - it's crazy - but for us church is the real priority and we'll always try and be back to be there if we can. Then Monday will be a family day, Tuesday we're in the office for our staff meeting, before heading out to do Southampton, Swansea, Birmingham and Manchester. Anyway, time to catch some zzzzz's!
