Korea

We're in Korea doing an Alpha Conference at the largest church in the world.
We landed in Seoul yesterday to do a two day Alpha Conference, training church leaders from across NE Asia. The venue for the conference is Yoido Full Gospel Church, the church founded by Yonggi Cho, which has grown to over a million members.
It's incredible to see the church - the building is about twice the size of the Albert Hall. Crazy. Korea is a super-organized place, and the church building empties in about five minutes, with everyone filing out in neat lines!
The conference is going really well - about half of the delegates are small group leaders and pastors from the church, and the rest are from other churches across Korea. We had an incredible time of ministry this morning - one of the most powerful I've ever seen. Nicky Gumbel asked the Holy Spirit to come and after a few minutes, the place erupted with people spontaneously speaking in tongues, weeping, worshipping, meeting with God. It was incredible to see such a sense of the presence of God in the place, very much like what we read about in Pentecost.
It reminds me that God has made himself available to those who are willing to throw themselves into seeking him. I wonder how much more effective I would be if I made more time to encounter God.
Anyway, I'll try and update you on Day two!

Wow, Al, that is awesome. Thanks for taking the time to fill us in on what God's doing across the world. It sounds like a powerful time there in Korea; it's amazing what happens when people come expecting God and are desperate for Him!

Wow, you are at Yonggi Cho's church? Every Asian church in Asia tries to learn from that church.
One thing though, they do pray A LOT. I mean, "A LOT."
May God be with you guys. Share with us more!!!
