Asia Day Three

Asia Day Three

5 Apr 2008

Our first conference in Asia rocked, it was an amazing day! The morning started with a main celebration of worship, teaching and ministry. The guys here love to sing - and they sing really really loud - it's awesome. I was also really struck by how young everyone was, it felt like the average age was about 18, which made us feel like old men. I led in the morning, and Tim spoke - it was a really good session, with serious jumping up and down, great ministry and a sense that people are being equipped. Then after lunch Graham Tomlin led a seminar on the theology of worship, followed by Tim's band dynamics session, and a Live Lounge with Beth Coulson, Graham, and local worship leaders Rommel Guevara and Haniel Fernadez. These guys came and spent some time with us last Autumn and have been setting up Worship Central in the Philippines. Then in the closing evening celebration, Tim led worship and I spoke. It was a great first Worship Central in Asia. It was very inspiring seeing them worship, get refreshed and empowered together. There's a real need for song writing here in the church - a lot of the songs are imported wholesale from outside the Philippines, and we're passionate that there would be a real move for homegrown, local songs to emerge. It was a real theme of the day. We're all exhausted, so we're collapsing and hitting the sack - we fly to Singapore tomorrow!
