World Youth Day
I'm currently in Sydney Australia for World Youth Day. It's a Catholic gathering that takes place in cities throughout the world, once every three years. The highlight is the Pope serving Mass on the final Sunday.
It's been a great vibe - over 150,000 young people have traveled from all over the world to be here. Ben (my drummer) and I headed into the city to join the party and it's amazing. Everywhere you go there are groups of young people singing, waving flags, dancing - it's crazy. P.A systems throughout the city blasting out worship music. It's been cool to see. On the final Sunday they're expecting 500,000 people.
Last night I lead worship at a cool venue called the Hordern Pavilion. I haven't led at many Catholic events so wasn't sure what to expect, but people totally went for it. It was a carnival atmosphere - people really worshipping and celebrating.
It's been a great introduction for me to the Catholic church.
If you were there - let me know.

16Jul08yeah yeah shut up Al :p
My mate from Guernsey is over in Syndey (Hillsong), so he is probably around the place. Sounded pretty mad from what I read. Someone said there will be more people there than when they held the Olympics!?

16Jul08Hey Tim, we were just in Sydney for the Hillsong Conference which was amazing. We unfortunately had to leave just before World Youth Day started, but everyone was definitely getting excited for it. They were pumping it quite a lot at the conference, and I think United are doing some worship for it too.
I've never lead worship before for a catholic event/church...must have been a cool experience.

17Jul08Yeh I'm Jordan's mate in Sydney. Yeh it's pretty awesome out here at the moment cos of world youth day, but I missed it cos I was recovering from serving at Hillsong Conference. Yeh man it's cool but I tried to drive through Sydney the other day.... not such a good idea! I heard 500,000 people are gonna walk over the harbour bridge and it's the 2nd time they've had to shut it down in the last 10 years. I think it's awesome for the city even though it's been pretty controversial.

17Jul08I made it out to WYD 2005 in cologne and had a great time. Do you know Matt Maher? He's doing great things in the Catholic world right now and is playing a few concerts out in Sydney.

17Jul08Hi Zaneta
The easiest way to play it in "C" would be to do Capo 5 and play G D C for verses
G D C
Light of the world, you stepped down into....
etc...
Then for the chorus do....
G D G/B C
and D G C for the tag
hope that helps.
