The Stand

I'm excited to be involved in a great event called The Stand, happening this Saturday Nov 8, at the NEC Birmingham. It is estimated that 27 million people are caught in slavery. 1.2 million children are trafficked each year. Many children sold in to prostitution to be abused by multitudes. It's truly sickening.

This isn't just a problem that is happening from afar. In the UK many are trafficked. Sadly it's a thriving business worldwide - $9.5 billion is made a year from the slave trade. As the Church we can't continue to close our eyes and bury are head in the sand. We need to act. We need to make a Stand.

On Nov 8, 2008, thousands are going to gather at the NEC in Birmingham, to seek the Lord, to pray and lift up the name of Jesus together. We need to remind ourselves that God cares passionately about His people. Psalm 72: 12-14

"For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight."

I'll be leading worship alongside, Delirious, Jon Foreman (Switchfoot), Bluetree, Vicky Beeching, YFriday, Steve Chalke and Andy Hawthorne. To find out more or to book a ticket visit www.hopeforjustice.org.uk/thestand.

will pray for you Tim

Yay!! I've been looking forward to The Stand for a while now, it looks great! It's exciting when the church stands up and does something like this, I'll be praying for the event, all those involved, and that God would use this to encourage His people into action!

I am praying for you guys

That sounds really fun! I hope it all went really well. X

Any chance you can tell us how it went?

The Stand was a great event... a great time of worship with people from all across the U.K who share in a passion for God's Justice to prevail in our world. Through worship and teaching, there was a real increased awareness of the issues that break God's heart (human trafficking, slavery etc.) and should spur us into action to be people who minister His justice into the world around us. Tim's song Give Us Your Courage spoke to me personally and has encouraged me (and others) to take a step and see where God would use us in light of these issues. I guess my prayer lately has been that our hearts would be broken for the things that break's God's heart and that we would be moved into action to Stand in the gap and allow God to use us to let His freedom reign.
