Recording Day 8

Recording Day 8

Chris Tomlin’s guitarist Daniel Carson is working adding more guitars in Nashville. I’m really pleased that Daniel is working on the record, as he'll bring a totally different flavour to things. We’ve always planned to track with one guitarist, then take the tapes over to another for extra parts. Daniel is recording parts from a studio in Nashville with an engineer called Russ Long, and Adrian Thompson is there to supervise the session. It’s a strange feeling having a bunch of guys work on your songs halfway round the world, but it’s going to be great.

At the same time we’ve got some loops, synth and sounds done by a brilliant guy called Dave Lynch in London, very fresh and edgy.

Meanwhile, in Eastbourne, we'll be adding keyboards to the record. There are a few songs that really need some driving piano, other bits that cry out for some tasty organ bedding. Mark Edwards is doing the session, he’s an amazing pro who has worked on literally everything for years. He’s one of those ‘do it all in an hour’ guys, who you only need three takes with. It’s amazing to watch.

There are a few more sessions coming up before things are finished, including a day with a gospel choir. I’ll keep you posted.

..don't you need to pass by Reading to get the RAPS!!!!!!?

Gem, we're definately missing the raps off worship the lord! you've still never sent them in! Hope you're doing well. Say hi to Chris. Al

That's it, I'm reporting you to the National Society for the Prevention of the Misuse of the Word 'Literally'.

Although, in other news, great to get that inside look into all the album stuff. Sweet, as they say on the streets.

Here you go Al...Copyright Gem West 2007! Hahaha.

I'm standing in the presence of the creator of all things

standing in the essence of the greatness of Him

I'm in awe of the LORD and the peace that he brings

He came and lived the life and forgave all my sins

my heart springs

I'm eternally blessed

By those words he humbly spoke and internally confessed

Though i digress from the path His prayer I'm holding true

Please forgive them father. They no not what they do.

Al, can you post some of the shots from your album photoshoot? Did you wear makeup??
